As it prepares for an expansion of high-def programming, including local HD, DirecTV approached the Federal Communications Commission with concerns about possible future mandates and restrictions that could challenge its HD future offerings. More HERE.

One of our users (junki) has posted some interesting DirecTV PDF files about the installation of the second dish to receive locals from 72.5. The files include not only the switch configurations, but how to do a forced update to the Tivo software. You can download the files HERE. Great stuff and many thanks to junki for posting the files.

UPDATE 11:10am EDT by Mark Lamutt

New software version P2.81 is now spooling for the Dish 811 receivers. This version includes OTA HD guide data in some markets. Click HERE for the Release Notes.
