    Phoenix,...
Channel 61 KASW, the local CW affiliate here in Phoenix is offline. The link provided above worked. I don't watch that channel much any more. I got a $30 one-time credit!

ABC Local 24 & CW 30 in Memphis, Tennessee are both Nexstar owned stations & are off the air. When I go to the DIRECTV website it has a "Get updates about missing channels" spot in blue where I can click & enter my zip code to see if any channels in my area are affected. Which 2 are, but nowhere about me getting any sort of discount.

Here in Western NY we're missing WIVB-CBS and WNLO-CW.

No mention of any discounts that I can find.

Safe to assume that D* won't offer free LCCs?????

I finally got the link. They gave me a one time discount of $5. I'm totally overwhelmed by their generosity. I ordered a used AM21 today for $49 shipped with the needed power cord and usb, still looking at an antenna to put in the attic. Any suggestions? Most of my locals are in Greenville, SC, 35 miles away.

How would you like to be in my situation? My locals come from Memphis, Tennessee. I live in Corinth, Mississippi Zip Code of 38834. Memphis is the local channels that serve my area. Corinth Mississippi is 80 miles away from Memphis. An over the air antenna which I have but is no longer even hooked up to my television does absolutely no good. Memphis is simply too far away. Most antennas are only good at the most 35 or so miles away. The 2 next available towns in my area that have TV Stations are Columbus-Tupelo Mississippi which are atleast 50 miles away just to Tupelo, & Columbus has a CBS Station but it is even father south of me than Tupelo is. I have no option but to rely solely on Satellite Television service for any kind of local television Reception. Sometimes the decision makers in Washington D.C. who tell us we cannot subscribe to long distance network television service just do not understand situations just like this one when local channels are taken down because of very silly contract disputes.

I'm in the same boat being 75 miles from St. Louis which is where all of my locals are. Can't get anything OTA. I have to have either cable or satellite to get locals. No other options.

From what I read today Nexstar offered to keep their channels up until 8/2/19 to give them and Directv more time to negotiate and Directv refused the offer. True or not, who knows? If true it demonstrates how much Directv cares about their subscribers.

Could be DirecTV trying to keep cost low.

Remember Nextstar was fighting cox december 2018
And tenga fought media com and fios also in December... those thing happen

wowk missing here in eastern ky. thankfully that's the only one. I logged in and got a link giving me a one time $30 credit. I watch that channel often but im nearly 100 miles away from them. receiving ota is not possible around here due to Appalachian mountains.

WOWK and WVPB are not the easiest to pick up via antenna even if you live 15 miles away from their towers. I live in South Point, OH and I can get WQCW, WSAZ, WVAH and WCHS at 100% strength with a regular Moho Leaf 50 antenna. With the same antenna I was able to get WLPX at 60% strength even though the FCC's own website says I shouldn't get that one.

WQCW and WSAZ are also 15 miles away while the tower for WVAH and WCHS is 31 miles away in Scott Depot, WV. I actually had to find my Xtreme Signal Flat HD Amplified TV Antenna I purchased from Solid Signal years ago in order to get WOWK (the Xtreme Signal manages to get 60% strength here). Meanwhile that antenna now picks up WLPX at 100% strength still can't get WVPB tho (I would die for their 2nd sub-channel).

im in Pikeville, ky. many years ago I could use rabbit ears and get wsaz, wowk and wchs. since the digital change, using a powered flat window antenna I can get 4 channels, all local pbs/ket channels. I haven't tried using a more powerful one yet but that is something I will likely try soon. as the crow flies, im 65 miles from huntington and 77 miles from Charleston. given the terrain of this area I highly doubt ill have any luck with ota. but it'll be fun trying :)

It's true that there are always two sides to every story and that the lies are usually somewhere in the middle. I don't believe either of them as it's just greed on both sides and we're the losers.

Yes, they absolutely would. If you could hook up a lie detector to both sides it would go off the scale, start smoking, then explode.

It is all about the money. Since digital signal does not carry as far as analog signal the broadcaster do not care a crap about the viewer and Direct TV ATT is the same! It is all about the shareholders and not the viewer

Darn. I had to pull out my AM21 and hook it back up so that I can record NBC programming from the OTA antenna. It was that, or watch commercials viewing live TV.

Same in the Albany NY area. We lost WTEN Channel 10 an ABC affiliate and still have WXXA Channel 23 FOX. Trump’s followers would lose their news source in our area if WXXA was removed. Probably coincidental but interesting. Already ordered an OTA antenna. One of those window antennas Amazon sell. My oldest son cut the cord and bought a $21 window antenna. His locals look crisp. We live in the Burbs so reception isn’t an issue.

What's funny (and ironic) is here in the Twin Cities (MN) the local FOX station (KMSP) is one of the most progressive/liberal leaning local newscasts in the area. And mind you this station is owned and operated by Fox themselves which makes it pretty funny to me.

Anyways back to your regularly scheduled thread.....
