That's ridiculous. That $12.25 off of ST used to be the standard offer and $16 off of Max. This year 1 person offered it to me then when I called immediately back after taking off ST I was told wasn't available for me.

Called today, was offered $20/month credit for one year and $12 off each ST payment ($75) and $36 off NHL with no further contract commitment. She said to call back 9/21 (the day before you can cancel ST) and see if other ST offers come up on my account. Be sure to call back about a month after any promos expire on your account, more may pop up after one billing cycle. It’s a game you have to be willing to play. She also admitted that each customer is offered different things depending on their programming and length of time with DTV. I guess I always knew this, but have never hear a CSR say it.

The other thing that we forget about is ATTs influence with these discounts. They really tightened up after buying DTV. Once the ST is gone from DTV, so am I. Equipment isn’t great and everyone else has caught up on programming. GLTA!

Possibly another CSR answer w/no basis in fact. And I say that because if you read these threads, you'll see where the same person is offered nothing (or little), calls back and talks to another CSR and gets a better offer. What changed? Certainly not the length of time (unless a few more hours makes a difference). Programming didn't change. Just a different CSR.

The AT&T CSR's will tell you anything to get you off the line and yes blatant lying is not a problem for them. Yesterday they said someone would call me back within an hour about an issue I have been having since Aug. 28. I've been flat out lied to several times by them saying the issue would be escalated and I would get email updates. Never got the email updates. Never got the call back yesterday.

I have never had a ST discount. I been a DTV customer for 20 years and cancelled ST 3 years ago. Reading this thread I thought I would try my luck. I have been in debate to drop DTV altogether as I personally don’t think it’s worth it. Anyways I talked to a CSR Sunday night and asked about a deal for ST. He offered me $10/month credit. I said that’s not a real huge deal for a long time customer. I kid you not, he told me there are other options for TV service and I could use them. I was speechless.

And the ones who consistently have lower packages but can get $50-60 of a month every year. Then there are the ones with Premier who have to fight & call multiple times to get something & not even that deal. Then like this year hubby gets to VIP & now there are offers available when for weeks they told me nothing other than lies.

 That is crazy. But that is how I feel when I deal with Amazon these days. Some of these companies have gone way down. My husband told them about all the offers I told him on here & that it wasn't enough based on what he knew. Got a VIP transfer.

I don't get it at all. DirecTV should reward the customers paying $150+ a month with deals, but they don't.

My bill after all my credits is $58 a month for the past 3 years. I've got the choice package with HBO. I have $98 in credits per month ($17.99 off HBO - AT&T Loyalty, $25 off choice - AT&T Loyalty, $10 off choice - 6 months credits, $50 off choice - 12 months credits). The credits start expiring in November, and I'll do the calling again....

And it will be basically roulette. I'll call/chat once a day for about 3-10 days, get 3-10 agents, who will deny me credits, then one day, magically, one agent will give me $50+ in credits per month for a year.

Makes no sense. I've paid much less in the past 3 years than many others. Maybe they don't see that on their screens? They should. When I've been given free NFL Sunday Ticket, does it just register that I paid for Sunday Ticket, or do they know I got it for free?

Their computer systems don't work. Keep trying and trying and you'll get discounts. Unless my AT&T status with my AT&T wireless trumps a lot of it????

Well I called them back today, as the guy I spoke with the other day, gave me their customer loyalty number to call, in a couple days, to see if anything changed in their system once the new week started. The guy I spoke with today, said there was nothing showing he could offer me for NFL ST. He just wanted to talk about lowering my tv package, which I told him I have done that already in the last year.

I told him at this point, I wasn't considering dropping anything on my tv package, as it is already low, and provides me just the channels I watch, and nothing more. To top it off, I told him my local cable provider, has a double play package, that includes their top tv package, with all channels including all the movie channels, plus nfl redzone. It would only increase my bill between $130-$150 over 24 months, from what I currently pay them for internet.

My current bill was like $148, which I find acceptable... However I have a $60 credit dropping off. So that total jumps to $208, not including any tax increase with the bill going up. To top it off, whenever these credits drop off, they say to call them back after a billing cycle, or two. No thank you, I'm not paying a high bill for 1-2 months. Then hope a rep offers me a similar discount, to get it back down.

There's no way in hell I'm paying any tv provider $200+ a month, for anything less then their top package, including added premium channels. DTV/ATT has lost their damn minds. To put icing on the cake, I have been with them since 07, never paid a bill late, and I'm currently out of contract with them. You would think they would try a little harder, to keep loyal customers, in good standing, like me. However they don't care.

So guess what I told the rep I spoke with today? To mark my account to be cancelled, at the end of my current billing cycle. Which is middle of next month, a little over three weeks from now. I will wait to see if their "VIP" department, who supposedly handles cancelling customers, and tries to keep them, will call me. In the next couple weeks. Because I'm VERY seriously about leaving them.

Because the only reason I have been with them since 07, was due to NFL ST. So if I don't have it, I rather be with my local cable company. Because at least I won't have to worry about my tv service going out every time the weather gets bad. I honestly think they forget their service isn't all that great to begin with. To try, and charge their loyal customers crazy high monthly rates. I just want to laugh, and honestly watch them FAIL as a company. They better work very hard to keep that NFL ST contract, because I see it happening, with their current way of handling long time customers.

I’m amazed by the number of people in this thread, whether the promise is kept or not, being told they’ll be “called back”. It seems to be almost common. I’ve always assumed it was not even allowed...

At least there weren't any erroneous blackouts on the NFLST channels in week 2. And the Rams easily beat the Saints.

My latest attempt on Sunday before the games was my favorite. The CS rep was so happy and I thought I finally found my deal. I got asked the "what's your favorite team" question which was a first for me this year and another good sign.
Then I get the confusing question, "do you want to auto renew next year"? Why on Earth would I unless you are giving me an incentive to?
    I said no thanks.
Now comes the minute wait while they pull up my offers.
Then she starts happily talking and when she mentions for 6 payments I knew I failed...
We have 6 months for $65.
I was like, are you serious, I could order it through the TV for that price. Just be honest and tell me there are no deals.
This is really for the hunt of the deal, looking at the start of the season and all the injuries, anything but Redzone is not looking good to me.
It may be a blessing in disguise.
I will try my local cable to see if they can make me switch and then DirecTV one more time.
You would think starting in Week 3, there should be great deals.

After my post last night, of me having them put my account to cancel at the end of my upcoming billing cycle. I guess this triggered DTV's cancellation department. As I got a call this morning by a nice gentlemen, and he seen I had my account set to cancel in a couple weeks. I think he already knew some of the reason's I was doing so, as reps now seem to post notes to your account, every time they talk/chat with you.

I ended up telling him I had a $60 credit that just dropped off my account, which was going to make my bill jump up a lot. On top of that I was honest with him, and told him the main reason I had DTV, was because of NFL ST. I told him I came to the point of canceling, due to my bill getting ready to jump way up, and I wasn't being offered anything off NFL ST. There was just no way I could afford the increase of the credit dropping off, and the regular cost of NFL ST. Which then I told him I had a current deal from my local cable provider that would put me around $150 max for the next 24 months, including their top tv package. Ultimately I told him it was something I would do, as the only thing keeping me with DTV, was NFL ST. Which up to the point of talking with him, I didn't have, so why stay, and pay a lot more?

He did try talk to me about lowering my tv package, as I am on choice extra, he was trying to get me down to choice. He mentioned some golf, hockey, and etc type channels being the difference. Which I don't really watch. However I mentioned to him some "Crime" type channels, and lifetime movie channel, the wife watches. Which I am pretty sure is only apart of the choice extra package. Once I mentioned that, he left the tv package part alone. I guess he seen I was correct in them channel's only being apart of the extra package.

After that, he asked me about NFL ST, I am sure he seen some notes on my account recently, with me asking about it. I said yeah I am a big football fan, and my team isn't local. So there's times they're not on local channels, and I still want to watch my team play. He understood, and told me he was a football fan as well. He ended up telling me he could give me NFL ST Max at no cost for this year, and told me it would auto renew at the start of next season, and I would have to cancel it, if I don't want to pay for it. Which isn't anything new to me.

With him being aware of me losing my $60 credit a few days back, he said he was going to give me another 12 months of that credit. Which I told him I appreciate. As monthly cost was the reason I was going to cancel. I explained to him I am a retired veteran, on a fixed income every month. So keeping my cost down was a priority I had to stay on top of. He ended up thanking me for serving our country, and I told him I appreciate that.

Ultimately the last two/three weeks was hell dealing with ATT/DTV customer support. I feel they have work to do, when it comes to trying to keep their long time loyal customers. Especially when they're month, to month with you, while in good standing. Which was my case. I had to play hard ball with them, and set my service to be cancelled, for someone within their company with enough power, to give me a reason to stay with them as a long time customer. I honestly didn't want to leave them, as I do like NFL ST during football season. However between the credit falling off, and paying regular price for NFL ST Max. My bill would of jumped like a $140 after taxes, no way I could stay with them paying regular price for everything, as a long time customer.

Tried calling 3 times this year and can only get a lousy 16.50 off the ticket price...been with directv over 23 yrs and first time I got basically nothing off the ticket. It sucks since att took over I am spending over 300 a month and have 4 Dvr. Hoping they lose Sunday ticket so I won’t be tied to them

I've called several times the past month.. Have Choice pack been with DTV 19 years. My $60 off x 12 just expired last billing cycle.Said at $168 mo hugely expensive. Asked for deals/promotions/discounts. Agent offered $15 off for 12 months and $5 off Sports 6 mths, $7 off Starz for 6 mths. I declined the $15 off saying that I had $60 /12 month before, but accepted the smaller offers. Then by herself she offered ST for free. So I have now ST for free (my goal, and still an expensive monthly of $153 /mo. I'll try and call in another bill cycle to get $60 off or so. The value of what I'm getting should be less than $100 mo. If I can get $50 or $60 off a month, I'll be happy.

Just reviewed my email to follow up with my post above that the transactions are in the works. So I think the way that the agent is giving me:
    1. ST for free is doing a one time charge for $293.94, and giving a one time credit for $293.94. The credit has yet to appear, hopefully it does in the next days
    2. In addition, it looks like they are re-instating the $60 off for 12 months. It just says that offer as a loyalty offer and a pro-ration of $38 for the rest of the month. So declining the $15 off for 12 months might have got them to re-instate the $60. The two smaller discounts of $5 off Sports Pack and $7 off Starz were also pro-rated. until the statement date of Oct 7 . They didn't use to pro-rate the credits last year to the next statement. But as long as it goes a full 12 months, it's still the same. I'll post up the next few days, hopefully with positive confirmation of all this!

I did my final call today. I stopped caring about Sunday Ticket as much but when I saw my last year's $60 off per month promo runs out this month...
That is $60 higher bill and zero discounts on Sunday Ticket, I had to act.
I called to the nicest guy but he of course could do nothing but another promo that stilled raised my bill by $10-20.
Asked to cancel service and he ave me the VIP number but they said they couldn't help me because I already have been switched to ATT (not a good sign).
They gave me another number and the young lady swore she could help me.
Nothing, zero. She said she will notate that I couldn't get the Sunday Ticket for free.
I calmly told her, I never asked for it for free, i just wanted a discount.
So I'm out the next billing cycle and I have ordered local cable which gives me the Red Zone.
Can you cancel any earlier or do you have to wait? It sucks for me because my billing cycle just started on the 15th.
