Thank you for this...
Did you already have discounts applied to you account? Normally you can get $60 to $65 off a month for 12 month
Directv has said they aren't going to be giving out discounts like they used to - that's one of the reasons why they've lost so many customers the last few quarters. The kind of people who are always chasing big discounts are leaving when they can't get them anymore.
Me? I haven't tried yet. I'll post my experience here when I try.
Also, forgot to mention I did this over chat and the first CSR gave me squat. When I said cancel the Sunday Ticket, he transferred my chat to someone else and they gave it to me right away.
My friends at the local call center also have been pretty much saying the same thing that when people has been calling in after a big promotional discount has ended there hasn't been any available. This is especially true for new customers after their first 12 months and the customers coming off their 2 year price guarantees. They have said usually customers with more than 1 service (like Internet and/or postpaid wireless) may have something available. It looks like AT&T is really determined to build a "high value" customer base as per their earning calls like they have been saying recently.
Look at how Directv lost 800K subscribers in the last quarter and Dish lost less than 100K. Obviously a lot of the cheapskates fled Directv to Dish. If Directv takes the next step and eliminates the "promo" rates for new customers, they won't get the cheapskates signing up in the first place so they won't be around to leave 24 months later, and their numbers will eventually stabilize into a small drop every quarter from cord cutting that will affect all providers.
Ah they aren't getting rid of the introductory 12 month offer for new subs they are just not giving them another $40-$60 off their bill once the new customer discount ends after Month 12 is what I meant.
I called in and dropped NFLST Max.
Was offered $20.00 per mo. for 12 mo. which I declined.
I called in and said my bill is over $210 and add in Sunday Ticket over $250, they re-upped my $60/month 12 months discount and added in some programming credits. I accepted as this was the 12th month on the previous $60 off credit. I'm Happy!
Called to cancel the auto renewal of ST today that was going to bill in a few days. $48.99 x 6 = $293.94. Last year I got ST for $99 billed. Plus loyalty discounts of $60 off Choice for 12 mths, which will expire on the next Sep 7 bill, and $7 off Starz for 6 mths and $5 off Sports Pack for 6 mths. While on the phone the rep offered a loyalty disct of $15 off for 12 mths and $7 off Starz and $5 off Sports Pack for 6 mths. I politely declined, and will wait till my last $60 off discount rolls off on the next bill to call and see what deals are offered for ST and, whether there are any improved loyalty discounts
I called on Saturday and allegedly spoke with Loyalty rep. I was literally offered nothing. No reduced NFL ST no other discounts no free programs. While I have done this little dance with DTV for many years, this is the first time I recall starting off at absolute zero. I mentioned that I was a 25 year customer of DTV and NFL ST and it got no reaction at all. So much for loyalty.
Called 800-824-9077 as I have every August since I discovered the number. I’m a 23 1/2 year subscriber. Current discount in place is one more month of $10 per month off MLB EI. $30 off per month for 12 expired last month. All she offered me was 1/2 off NFL ST MAX at $28.99 per. She said she tried to get it to me for free but no dice. My billing cycle begins on the 15th. I’ll call back on the 16th to see if I have better luck.
I’d be shocked if you got a better offer than that...
This is the first year that I just don't want to deal with the hassle of calling. I'm coming off credits of $60 off a month for 12 months, but I really don't want to play the roulette game again. Last time I was told one thing and it took three calls of about 30 minutes each to figure out why I wasn't getting the deal I was promised. It was just too much work. I called the 800 number and cancelled. My mental health is a lot better for it.
I’m in the same boat.. I’ve texted and called and was told no discounts at this time. I’m thinking after 14 years I’ve had enough... thinking about just getting YouTube tv.
and I’ll be ok with that...
I did a combo of chat and phone this morning. I am almost hesitant to say what I was offered, but I will say perseverance paid off and not only did I knock down my bill quite a bit, doing the math I think I got ST for free (coffee hasn't fully kicked in yet). Maybe it was due to a rep who was as excited about football starting as I am? Who knows, but I am stoked!
Lol. I was just talking to my stepdad about this after calling 3 times yesterday & still ending up with no monthly discount. We were saying we hate the roulette game & are seriously thinking about cancelling. I told him if I have to go back to the old days of listening to games & on the internet then there is no point to keeping Directv with all the other cheaper, competitive options out there. Especially since in order to save money last year from them I had to drop my package. Saved me over $1000 bucks when all I wanted was Sunday Ticket for $100.
Exactly the same situation with me. No Sunday Ticket... then I have virtually no reason to continue with DirecTV... even (or I should say especially) after 16 years. I was able to work a "deal" but suspect this time next year I will not have service any longer.... just hoping something pops to stream NFL games before then!
