Premier for 20 years. Just got nflst max for $11/month. Gave me $54 worth of credits per month for 6 months, some for NFLST and others towards HBO/Cinemax etc.
So I made my annual call today, been doing it for at least the last 10 years.
(20 years with DTV/ Premier package.....)
Long story short, for the first time ever, I struck out. The rep i spoke with was very nice and she told me point blank that she was surprised and thought that it was not right that the system was offering me no deals considering my primo customer standing (large bill, 20 year customer, etc)
So what she told me was that she would call me back on Monday, after the system resets all promotions and credits over the weekend. (Basically confirming what has always been the thinking- that it is always better to call for deals early in the week)
So I guess I will wait and see what happens Monday. The skeptic in me thinks there is zero chance I will get a callback.
But this does sound legit and the rep was very sincere- swore up and down that she would indeed call back and that I would be her first call of the day. I may be crazy but I actually believed her
We shall see.......

Wow. Not only ST Max free (nobody gets it free anymore), and further discounts on top of that? That’s insane. There has to be something about you/your account that you haven’t revealed...
I’m pretty sure Directv gives a crap about chat. If they did, then they wouldn’t make you call everytime you wanted to cancel or downgrade anything...

Have they ever called anyone here (outside of a request for callback, obviously)? Are they even allowed to?
I've been successful receiving discounts via chat in the past (including Sunday Ticket), and others here have also received some decent discounts via chat. Is it the most opportune approach? Probably not. But anything is worth a try once.
The reality is that none of us really know what plays a role in what you get. There have been people on here who have paid upwards of $200 a month & been a sub for 20 years who don't get anything or that much. Then there are some who have lesser packages & get stuff, or haven't been with them as long.
I have been with them since 2011 and other than the 1st year promo have never gotten it free. One year I got it for $99, another got upgraded to Max for free. Up until last year I had the Premier package. I am now on the Choice Package. I have HBO free & a standing $25 discount through wireless. My $50 and $15 off a month for 12 months fell off this bill. So far I have been offered nothing, but have received $269 in one-time bill credits. Plus, the ST credit I received once I canceled it.

I had actually called back in June and told them to cancel my auto-renewal. Well I just got my bill and saw that they had charged me for the 1st payment. Obviously wasn't too happy about that so I called Loyalty and vented my frustration a bit. They ended up giving me $55 off a month for 12 months. I have to pay for the NFL Sunday Ticket but obviously the promotion covers the cost and then some.

I did the same thing, but they didn’t screw it up. And now I wish they had..
i have been with directv since the days of Pegasus ... 17 plus years.. I have total choice plus grandfathered in .. it took me a YEAR to get some sort of discounts after my discounts ran out last year.. I don't have ST.. and I was hoping because I was NOT ASKING FOR it I would get a bigger discount.. Heck no.. i feel that Directv and more precisely ATT doesn't want us.. that they want all new package people.. and that our years of loyalty mean nothing to them.. and that even though we WERE NOT PART OF THE CHURN.. and paid them each month each and every year.. our money went to some one else and not them.. and that all of our time means nothing to them at all. I don't see it getting any better until Directv gets sold again or spun off.. but we mean nothing to ATT.. we didn't give them any money , , we gave our money to some one else.. and they don't want us..
Well, I don’t know about that, but...at the very least, the “formula” has clearly changed. I don’t know if it’s just more chaotic/random, or just much more complex. But ATT, after a few years of watching/waiting, is now definitely doing things their own way. If it wasn’t so famous/valuable, they certainly would’ve thrown away the Directv name by now...
Why do you have to pay? You can cancel up until the first week of the season.
As mentioned in yesterday's post. Choice for 20 years. I called 8/3 to cancel my ST renewal, he said he did, but I saw the bill yesterday and it was not cancelled, I called yesterday 8/21 and the rep did cancel, and I already have the credit for the 1st install 48.99 on the bill today, he only offerred me $30 off for 12 months, which I declined. I'll wait until the next bill on Sept 8th when my last $60 off for 12 mths rolls off. Next month with no discounts and no ST on the account, will see if they offer me anything good?
Because I decided I want the Ticket for the full season since the promotion will cover the cost.
Well I had to call them again today as well. As monday the lady supposedly cancelled my ST, however she didn't remove the charge for it on my upcoming bill. I noticed as my bill posted, and it was $80+ more then it should of been. Ended up noticing my taxes jumped from like $5 and something, to like $25. I question the loyalty lady about this, supposedly Virginia has raised the taxes. Which I said to her, I feel we should be notified of such change, as a $20 increase is a lot.
The lady said since it's virginia doing it, it's not on them to notify us about the change. I also mentioned to the lady I spoke to today, how the lady on monday told me about a Military discount, but that discount only applied for people who have ATT wireless as well. The lady I spoke with today, said she didn't even know of any kind of military discount. I made sure to tell her the lady the other day was from loyalty as well. She said she was gonna have a talk with someone after we got off the phone about this. I told her ATT should offer military people a discount, and not be required to have a certain service to get such a discount. She ended up giving me a one time credit of $25 for this mix up.
Overall. The next couple weeks will decide if I stay with directv, moving forward. As currently no ST discount being offered, only reason I have directv. Now supposedly taxes have increased by $20 a month. Also come middle of september a $60 credit drops off my account. Which will push my bill to between $200-220, not including NFL ST. That's unacceptable for TV minus any kind of monthly sports packages.
So if this doesn't change, and improve these next couple weeks. I will have to contact my local cable provider, for triple play services. Which will cost me at worst $250 a month. That would be including Internet, and home phone. These solo TV service providers have lost their damn minds, thinking $200+ for only tv service a month is okay. I won't be putting up with it.
