No you won't because I'm not calling them.

I wouldn't want to take the chance on getting knocked out of a free receiver upgrade or some other perks just for the sake of $16 per month for six months.

I got an HD DVR and Superfan ... I've never paid for Superfan and it's never affected anything else I've been given. Superfan is a silly charge anyway -- I don't use the RedZone channels or anything like that. I just want the games in HD. ;)

I just called and asked nicely if they had any kind of trial year offer for SuperFan. I just had service installed Saturday the 23rd. The CSR that answered sounded really tired and ready to go home. I told her everything was great so far and told her that the installers were very good. She put me on hold for a few minutes to "see what she could do." She came back on the phone and told me that she would give me this year for free but to remember to cancel it if I don't want it next year since it auto-renews. I thanked her for her help and I'm very happy with Dtv so far. We've had a couple bad storms here in the Tampa area over the weekend and the worst that happened is the HD channels chopped up a little bit but SD was fine. My signal meters read about 86% in the worst weather, they've been 96% so far. They've surpassed my expectations so far, I have a baby due in 2 months and i'm getting much more programming for 20 less a month than what I had with local cable. Looking forward to seeing the Lions hopefully break the .500 mark this year at home in HD.

I just had my install on the 23rd and called in on the 24th to ask for free Superfan. They said that I was not eligible to get it free. I told them about how I had a really poor install and I felt that it was unacceptable service (which was 100% true). He went and asked his supervisor and came back and told me I would be getting it for free. It has since shown up on my account with $0.00 as the cost. So, I had to hand-wring a bit, but I got it free as well.

After cancelling I was told that I was elgible for the Early Bird Special at $269 with SF instead of $249 for the auto-renew without SF. It seems many have been able to get $20 difference refunded so maybe I still have something to whine about.

This is my 10th year getting NFLST.
I had to call CS about a billing issue and about when my HD locals start next month, will my old RCA receiver get the SD versions?
Turns out the rep's son lives nearby, so we started talking and she was very nice.
So I asked about getting free Superfan.
She said yes, and put it on.
Now I have to get a new HDTV and swap it with my old HD receiver.
Nice problem but the cabinet we have our living room TV is only 29 inches wide which means I'm stuck with 26 inches max.
    Oh well.....

For those of you keeping score, this will be my 12th year with NFT ST. Last year I upgraded to HD about this time and got SF for free. I just called and was told the free SF offer is no longer available. I asked if I missed a deadline or something, and that I autorenew so that I am eligible for the best offers. CSR said the free SF is only for new customers now. But she ended up offering a 33% discount on it.

I took it. Nothing has showed up on my account yet.

    Good luck all!

I called, no luck. She had to ask her supervisor and came back with a $10 off for 6 months. I even referred to the offer from the e-mail. Should I send an e-mail through the website or is that it? I just called the number on my bill to contact DirecTV (1-800-531-5000).

I called last night. I asked for SF free and the CSR responded with "We want you to be happy with Sunday Ticket". He credited the SF charge that had been made on last month's bill and replaced the chargeable SF on my account with one that shows 'free'. No hassle, no threats.

Hey cool man, I'm glad that worked out for you.

I agree, it irks a lot of folks that they bundle HD in a $100 extra package but that said once you have it some of the SF stuff is kind of interesting (although D* must know very few would pay for it without the HD aspect).

This is I think my 10th year of Sunday Ticket and once you bite the bullet on price its just pure fun after that. For me the best part after getting to watch my team every week when I live 'out of market' is that you get to watch all the great moments each week. Be it someone going for a record, some #1 draft choice getting their big debut or just all the 2 minute drills and game ending heroics. Or just the most interesting game every week because your 'local' station (for me in another state no less)is showing the Bengals er some team you don't care about, heh.

I just became employed on Wednesday, and called D* to re-sign up for the "Sunday Ticket" and said I had received a email stating I could get it for 5 payments of $57.99 ($289.00) with superfan included. It took about 5 minutes and I was set up. Happy to be employed again after 4 months and VERY happy to get the NFL Sunday Ticket w/Superfan for less than $300.00

    So it must still work. :D :D :D :D :D

Is there a number, options to pick or a time to get a CSR that can do it without asking a supervisor?

Just dumb luck and be very nice. Some CSRs have no idea about it and others will just set you up.

Jaded after 2 months! I suggest a different profession for you! I've been hung up on by CSR's, and the only reason I'm calling several times a day is because the last csr screwed up my account and the next one has no clue how to fix it and blames me for lying. The third one hangs up, the fourth one answers laughing like it's a big joke and after 5 calls and an hour wasted I lose all grandfathered services (DNS, DVR incl in package) So even though some half listening csr notates fishing for free service, perhaps we're trying to reinstate what was rightfully ours!

Sometimes the problems are on your end - not ours! Your job is customer SERVICE! Not hanging up on paying customers.
