I switched over to a HD DVR earlier this year and have already rec'd many perks from DTV ($10 off month for 12mo/free HD DVR/6 months free service/3 mo. free HBO) so I doubt I could squeeze another concession from them at this point.

Given that, does DTV normally offer any other "deals" for subscribing to SuperFan as the season starts up? I've rec'd fliers and emails from them, but none had bonuses (like free PPV movies, etc) for signing up. I've never paid much attention to SuperFan before since I didn't have HD.

I would go ahead and give them a call and see what they say. I would just mention you have friends and relatives receiving it for free and that you would like the same deal. If the 1st csr says know call back and get one that says yes.

Given that CSRs are noting accounts when customers are asking for freebees, CSR Roulette has been greatly reduced. Especially for someone who has already had a bunch of deals recently, the chances of getting anything further deals is very low.

That may be true but I have always got what I wanted one way or another I think it is worth a shot.

I just e-mailed and asked for free super fan earlier in the week and got it within and hour of sending the e-mail. I am a longtime customer with Football and Baseball package, but it can't hurt to ask.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I guess it really doesn't hurt to ask. I emailed about SuperFan & was told to call so I did. They gave me SuperFan for free after I asked if they had any better offers than the standard $99. The way the CSR was talking it's one of those "unadvertised deals," that anyone can have for the asking. The only catch is you have to buy the programing from DTV and not a 3rd party affiliate.

And that is what irritates the heck out of me! We're forced to pay $9.99/month in the form of an "HD access fee," meaning for the privilege of being ABLE to watch HD we pay ten bucks a month. Then if we want to watch out-of-market football games, we have to pay $250 to $300 for the NFL Sunday Ticket. Now if we want to actually WATCH any of those games in HD, we have to fork over an additional $99?!? Frackin' ridiculous!

But SuperFan has the Red Zone Channel and the Game Mix Channel, we're told. So? Whether we utilize those special channels or not, don't make HD football games require an additional $99! Have SuperFan be for those special channels only and make the HD broadcasts standard, which they should be.

It's one damn fee after another, and I'm sick of it!

I wish they offered the SuperFan thing as a separate package.

When I had ST, I loved the 30-minute Game Shorts or whatever they call them now.

So why are they charging for it? If one can realistically get it free, it seems to me that to charge for it is dishonest.

I have to agree with Lord Vader, the only time I used the Red Zone Channel is when the Packers were on their bye week!

HD access should give us access to the HD Versions of the SD games since that is what HD access is. I know I just beat a dead horse, but it is true.

But I don't subscribe to the ST anymore. Not in the budget these days.

If they offered just the SuperFan or just the Game Shorts, I might subscribe to that.

But I suppose since we do get NFL network, I can watch any of the four games they replay as the best four of the week.

But it's really no big deal to me, would just be something nice to have I guess.

I didn't and I called 3 times. What equipment have I got for free? None. I have an HR 10-250 that is now a $900 doorstop and I leased my HR21 and H21 from Best Buy.
