NFLST Deals/Offers for 2014

    how is everyone getting to retention. i used to say cancel service and this time it took me to a regular rep. i have tried multiple phrases and its not working. i usually have no issues gettting there. cancel service, not moving. but it is not giving me those options anymore

    Just got done doing my phone call a few minutes ago. At the prompt, I stated, "When does my contract end". This got me to retention.

    I talked to the CSR. I explained very nicely my concerns over the continued escalation of the price of Sunday Ticket as well as my concern that D* doesn't have a contract w/the SEC Network as of yet. She clarified for me my contract status (my contract expires May, 2015), and I then asked if I was eligible for any discounts for Sunday Ticket.

    The CSR checked for me, and initially stated that I could either get Sunday Ticket for free or Sunday Ticket Max for the $160 price that several others have quoted. Knowing that others had gotten a little more in total discounts through movie channel credits, I asked her if she could check to see if I was eligible for any further discounts. She put me on hold for several minutes, and then got back to me.

    The CSR stated that since I had been a long-time, loyal customer (since 1998), her supervisor authorized her to give me Sunday Ticket Max for FREE. I was more than happy to accept this offer. I know that some have gotten some movie discounts that may have given them a little more of a discount, but we are a sports family and hardly ever watch movies, so we don't purchase any of the movie channels anyways. Sunday Ticket Max for free was more than acceptable for me and our situation. And Sunday Ticket Max for free makes the wife happy, who's just as big of a football fan as I am.

    DirecTV has always been great in negotiating with me over Sunday Ticket and equipment upgrades. Hopefully it will con't to be this way in the future even if the merger is approved.

    I've been a sub since 1996 and was just told by Retention that there was no discounts available. I will call back, but between this and no PAC 12 Net, I have no reason not to switch to Dish.

    Just got off the phone with Direct TV. At the prompt I said " When does my contract end." That got me over to retentions.

    Spoke with a nice guy named Gregory. Told him I wanted to confirm when my contract was up. Turns out my contract ended on the 5th of this month. I then told him that I was concerned about the rising price of NFL Sunday Ticket and also my concern about no deal for the SEC network. He told me that they were still at the table with a contract to carry SEC and at that point I asked about any discounts on NFL Sunday Ticket.

    He offered me Sunday Ticket for free or Sunday Ticket MAX for $160 with a one year commitment for either one. I thanked him for the offer and them proceeded to chat him up a bit about the upcoming season and how much I enjoyed Sunday Ticket MAX last year but knowing other people here have done better I asked if there were any addtional discounts. After a little more small talk he then said he could offer me Sunday Ticket MAX for $90 spread out into 5 payments of 18.00. Thanked him again and once again made some more small talk with him about how new customers get it for free but he said that offer was only for new customers and that next year they either pay full price or call and cancel. I thanked him but asked if there was anything more he could do since I have been with them since 2001 and been an NFL Sunday Ticket subscriber with them since I came onboard in 2001 plus I reminded him I am out of contract and Comcast and DISH are always trying to get me to switch.

    He said that was the best he could do on that but then opened the door when he asked me about my bill and programming. I told him I was happy with my programming package but would listen to anything he had about ways to save money on my bill. After some more small talk he offered me $15 off my programming package for 12 months and $10 off my HD for 12 months. I accepted the offer and he reminded me it would require a 12 month commitment on my part. That's fine with me since I have no plans to go anywhere.

    So overall for 30 minutes on the phone it is costing them $7.00 a month in bill credits for me to watch Sunday Ticket MAX this season and then for the other 7 months I will have $25.00 in bill credits. Very pleased with this deal.

    I called and got the retention dept.I asked about the current deals for Sunday ticket since I would miss 1/2 of the games due to commitments I have on Sundays through 10/19. I was offered red zone free initially and then was offered Sunday Ticket Max for $160 which is 1/2 price. I took it since I already got the wireless genie client upgrade and installation two months prior and I have a $20 credit currently running on my account from previous calls. I usually never pay more than this for Sunday ticket each year and it usually closer to the $100 mark. It was spread over 4 payments, of $40. I might call back in a week to see if I can pay in one lump sum, easier. Then I will see if there are any more discounts available. My motto is to never pay for equipment/installation upgrades, it's their gear!!!!

    I had e mailed office of president and got a response. Last yr got ST for free first time ever got package. This tr was offered 15 off for 12 months. I told him just couldn't swing it but asked if they offer red zone channel on its own. He said yes and offered it for free. That was fine for me since I use that channel a lot during season. My team is always on my local channel anyway.

    Long time reader, first time post. :)

    I attend several NFL games each year, so I've never gotten full value out of ST even though I've always paid full price. This year was just too much and I had decided that I would cancel ST if I couldn't get a significant discount. I've followed these forums for years, watching what many of you have done and the deals that you've gotten. So, with the guidance from all of you, I made the call . . .

    I called and said, "contract end date" at the prompt. I told the rep that it would be difficult to justify spending the $300+ on ST since I am at an NFL game eight of the 17 weeks and have never really gotten the full value. I said that between the daily rate of $45 and the couple of games I'd go to a sports bar, it was simply more than I could stomach. He asked me to hold while he looked to see what offers were available and came back with a 50% off ST MAX plus credits to cover the other 50% over the next six months. I never threatened to cancel, other than what was implied by saying it was too expensive. Also no new contract required.

    Thanks for letting me anonymously browse your forums for years and learn the most efficient methods of getting to a rep with the power to make a great offer.

    Called at ask for "Contract End Date" at prompt. Not sure I got Retention but here is what I was ultimately offered and accepted:

    Sunday Ticket Max - 4 payments of $40 each
    $100 One Time Credit
    $5 Credit on base package for 12 months
    $5 Credit for six months
    Free Showtime for four months

    I'm still under contract for another year and have been a Sunday Ticket subscriber since 1995

    Did my annual call with "when does my contract expire" at the prompt. Customer since 1997. STic Max for 4*40 = 160. 15 dollar credits for a year = (180), net (20). Happy camper. Also thru in Showtime for 4 months.

    As an update, it turned out I wasn't talking to Retention, but a CSR. I had used the "when does my contract expire" line again, but again I was connected to a regular CSR and I was informed that the first CSR hadn''t made any adjustments to my account and there were no notes attached. (Nice). The second CSR could only offer a $10 discount for six months and I said that was unacceptable. She then said that maybe Retention had a better offer and she connected me right away. Retention came up with a good deal that I accepted: ST Max for $150, plus an additional $15 discount for six months. So I got the full package for a net cost of $60.

    I called and was offered just half off Sunday Ticket.... I guess that once they convinced me to take the Genie last year, it moved my date back.. although at the time , i was told that no commitment would be added.. it was.. its not a problem.. its probably D* last year for the service.. and I nicely declined.. He said that he would WRITE IT DOWN.. in case I called back.. it wasn't the offer that I wanted. .however.. the Packers play the AFC east.. the jets game will be on the New York channel.. and the New England game should be the prime CBS game.. the rest should be on FOX or easy to see for me and my setup.. I don't even believe it was Max that he was offering..

    Called and said when does my contract expire, transfered to retention, my contract expires august 1, he said I should call back august 2nd for the best promos, he still gave me Sunday ticket for free with no contract and said when I call back next month to ask for csg/retention for other promos and I mentioned I wanted to add a wireless genie and he said I can add that when I call back

    Got ST Max last year for $60, did my annual call again this year with the 'When does my contract end' statement. Very nice CSR, and asked what deals for this year even though first charge of $54.99 appeared on my bill last week.

    She offered only $10 of ST for 6 months. I said that is still quite a bit of money, and asked if there is any other offers. She came back in 2 minutes with an additional $10 off for 12 months off base programming (Grandfathered Premier) for a total of $180 in discounts.

    I wavered and said that last year I only had to pay around $60. After 2 more minutes, she came back with another $120 in credits for 3 months of HBO/Showtime/Starz. She said net cost for ST Max was $29.99 + tax.

    I ran with the offer and thanked her, also telling her I will continue to be a loyal customer even after 16 years now. My contract is up next February, but I am not going anywhere. Way too satisfied with my provider.

    Got 150.00 instant credit plus 40.00 off for next 3 months on movie channels. Total savings: 270 plus tax on ST Max!
