D* customer since 2003. Second call this year - this one paid off. I had cancelled NFLST after the last call after reading that some offers only appear to customers who don't have a current auto-renew NFLST subscription. I am currently out of contract.

Asked "When does my contract expire?" at the voice prompt. Immediately transferred to a prepresentative. I asked him if I was still under contract and also asked if what deals he had for Sunday Ticket.

He confirmed that I was out of contract and then offered me NFLST for no charge and $35/mo bill credit in exchange for a 1-year commitment. I asked if that included the RedZone channel and he said it did not but he would add it for free. This is the best deal I've gotten - and I call every year. i don't know if being out of contract helped, or the fact that I currently have no discounts on my bill.

Thanks DBSTalk community for the tips!

I still have a year left on my contract, I pay DTV online automatically and have been with them since 2002. I called and asked "what is my contract end date?" I mentioned I was considering going to TW and just getting their version of RZ channel. the DTV rep (possibly customer retention) offered me the DTV RZ and their new Fantasy channel for free. After some nice discussion about my desire to save money and love of ST Max, she offered ST max at half price, $10 credit/mo for 12 moths, and a 1 time $25 credit. I took that, bringing the cost of ST Max to about $15 total. I'm happy.

Been with DTV since 2008, I have Premier and have had Sunday Ticket every year. I've always gotten some sort of deal.

Made first call last week, got to retention and was told I had no offers "since I had it free last year." I canceled Sunday Ticket and she told me to try back in August because she would have more deals to offer.

Called today, got to retention using "contract end date" at prompt...very nice CSR. Initially offered me ST Max for $160. I asked if there was anything else she could offer. She offered $10 for 6 months (free Sports Pack.) I said that was good, but that I had gotten better deals in the past and wondered if there was anything else she could do. After some typing, she offers me an additional $40 credit for 3 month (Free HBO, Cinemax and Showtime.)

    ST Max--$160
6 months free Sports Pk ($60)
    3 months free Premium ($120)

So all in all I'm up $20.

I was very nice the entire time but it was the hardest I've ever had to push the get the deal. I just kept asking if is was the best she could do. Very happy, call took less than 15 mins.

Just called today and got a deal similar to mny of the others here. ST Max for $163, with $5 credit for six months for Showtime, same credit for Cinemax (both of which I get anyway, plus $20 per month discount for 12 months. So I am paying $163 (spread over four months) and getting $300 in credits. Possibly I could have done better but I am satisfied.

Called today to get free Red Zone which I've had each year since its inception on Directv. Already receiving a few credits and no great need for Sunday Ticket so I just asked for Red Zone. Only took a couple of minutes to have it added.

Called yesterday. I went the SEC channel route. Rep said it should be worked out soon, then saw that it was. She(sounded like an older lady) said no discounts for the ticket now, call back closer to the season. I have 17 months left on contract. When should I call back?

I called yesterday and the guy stated he was adding ST for free and Max for $30. Then said there was an issue getting it credited. I guess I am capped on credits at this time. He specified that usually only happens when you have more than 4 credits on an account at a time. I have a $15 off for 15 months, DVR fee free for 12 months and 2 referrals. I am not over the said 4 credits and 2 of them are referrals. Not to mention I am not under commitment either. Its very frustrating. I see others are getting deals even with credits. I guess if you max out on the referral credits (10 per year) you wont get anything for free from them. That blows me away. If nothing changes before the season starts I will go with regular ST only and no MAX this year I guess. The guy mentioned he had removed ST but when I look at the recent activity on my account and my current balance, I see a full charge for NFL Sunday Ticket. Guess I will be calling the Vice President of Customer Service this morning to get the charges removed. I am shocked that my account does not show that I have ST but the charges remain on my account.

I tried again today and got the same offer of $10 off of each monthly payment. I shouldn't complain after the deal I got last year, but it's still frustrating given how much it costs and how long I've been a customer.

    Tried my annual call yesterday.

First called around lunchtime, said contract end date at the prompt. Was shooting the breeze with the guy on the other end of the line and he said he could only offer $8 off/month on Sunday Ticket with Max thrown in for free. I told him I'd think about it and hung up.

Called again on my way home from work. She said the last time I called was a couple months ago so how could she help me. Said I was looking for any deals they are offering on Sunday Ticket. She said we can offer you $8 off a month on Sunday Ticket with free Max or $5 off a month on Sunday Ticket with free Max. I didn't say a word hoping that she would say something else. 3 seconds later she said, "Or we can offer you Sunday Ticket plus Max for a one time payment of $50". I verified that includes the regular Sunday ticket, the Red Zone Channel, the fantasy football channel and the ability to stream on my laptop or any other device. That's correct.

Got it for totally free last year, I guess I could shell out $50 this year! Although she did give me the caveat that I would have to pay full price next year after getting 2 such good deals.

    We'll see about that.

Last week removed auto-renewal and got $10/12 mos.

Today called and said "when is my contract end date?" (the new "cancel service"), nice guy said he was resolution department. When I was hardcore about credits, I'd hang up until I got a female, but I stuck it out with him. Asked about contract date and then explained I'm re-evaluating bills while he looked up contract end date.

He noticed $10/12, but was able to give me NFLST (no MAX) for free with 1 year commit.
    and another $5/12
    and 3 months free showtime
and 3 months free HD extra pack (but there's always a 3 months free for that, so no biggie).

He in so many words encouraged me to call for discounts (as in, the future).

I don't care about MAX, told him I could use RZ, but he didn't try to add it. I may call next week or in two weeks and ask about MAX, and if I can't get a deal on MAX (I would take it for $30 as some have got it here for, but not $90), just say "all I really need is RZ. Is there any way you can add RZ only, not max?"

I'm quite content considering I've had NFLST free for last couple of years and at least heavily discounted the entire time I've been with DirecTV.

Just called in after seeing the ST MAX charge on my bill that was supposed to be removed.

Got that taken care of, was eligible for two more monthly credits.

Also, asked about Red Zone. Got it free. Quick call, things went better than expected.

So made my second call yesterday. Got to retentions right at the start. The lady let me know that she saw I had called the day before about ST and what was offered to me ($10/mo credit for 12 months) and full price ST or ST/Max. I let her know that I wasn't happy paying full price when a new customer can get it for free and etc. She did the line that they only get free for a year and then have to pay full price like everyone else. I asked if there was anything she could do besides the $10/mo credit. She comes back with the half off of ST/Max. I ask if there were any other credits or offers and am told no. I ask her to note my account the offer. She asks if I would be calling back within the next 5 days and I said probably. She gives me a special number to call and a PIN number to enter to get back to retentions quicker.

I wasn't going to call back until September, as all my credits would have expired by then and I could negotiate my rate for the next year that way. Just thought this way I know what my bill would be for the next year and with the extra payment for half-off ST/Max.

Then around midnight my email goes off telling me my DTV account had been updated. Strange, as I hadn't made any changes, so why would it be updated? I log onto my account and see the CSR had made changes to my account: She added the $10/mo credit and changed my programing package from an outdated package to a lower price package that removed channels that I was previously receiving.

In the morning I called the special number she gave me and the PIN number and got right to retentions. I explained what has happened and that I would let them pull the tape of the call and listen to it to make sure I was correct. She let me know this wasn't needed and I was told by the new CSR that she would enter a complaint on the old CSR, and put me back onto my old programing package. She couldn't remove the $10/mo credit, saying once a credit is on the account, they can't be removed. I explained how upset I was and how this makes me not trust DTV and their customer support. She apologies some more and assures me that the old CSR would have a coaching session over this mistake. She then tells me that she would offer me ST/Max for free to make up for their mistake. I never once asked for her to do this for me. She would have to charge me the full $163 price and then put a one time credit of $163 on my account. I thanked her for offering this to me. She then had to go over a ton of legal things about blackouts, local channels and auto renewal. I had to agree to each of them also.

Just called D* and thought I was under contract since I called 2 months ago and agreed to some discounts and a $100 visa gift card, which I never received.I also called a month ago to take off the auto renewal for NFL ST Max.

When I called I said "Check contract expiration date" and think I got retention department person.

Anyways I asked what offers were available and got:

-$10 off the $25 advance receiver fee for a year.
    - Got NFL Sunday Ticket Max for half price and choose to pay it in 4 separate monthly payments.
    - Was offered a $100 visa gift card again if I signed a 1 year contract.Declined and was given a one time $25 credit to my account.
    - Removed Cinemax & Starz since my last 3 month promo discount was over.

Still currently out of contract with D*

Just finished my original 2 year contract agreement with them last month.

I made my annual Sunday Ticket call this afternoon and was psyched to get it done on the first call. Here's that I got:

$8 off per month on Sunday Ticket
    Free MAX upgrade
    $15 off for 12 months
    $10 off for 12 months
    $5 off for 24 months
    No new contract

So, in the end I'm paying $192 for ST+Max but getting $420 back in credits. Not too shabby. Here's the background: I called and said "when is my contract end date" at the prompt. This immediately got me through to retention. I could tell because the nice woman I spoke with had access to all the deals. I asked her when my contract end date was and she confirmed that I was month-to-month and politely asked why I was asking. I told her I re-evaluate my entertainment options once a year and was reminded about that when I got my fat bill for Sunday Ticket. I mentioned that I was looking into the FIOS triple-play package and that they were offering a $400 VISA gift card. She immediately started looking for discounts. She offered up $8 off per month for ST, but I wasn't that impressed. She pretty quickly offered up MAX for free and then started looking at programming discounts. Then she came up with the $15x12, $10x12 and $5x24 discounts. I was impressed that I didn't have to do much bargaining at all for this. Maybe I could have pushed to get ST for free instead of $8 off each month, but I already thought this was a very fair deal, especially since I didn't need to sign up for a new contract. So I pulled the trigger.

I also asked her about equipment uprades. She mentioned Genie, but I'm really not interested. What I really wanted was to upgrade my three HR22s to HR24s. She looked into this for quite a while and ended up by working something out where I could upgrade two of them for free. I could even make one of them a new TiVo DVR. But the catch for any equipment upgrade was a new 2 year contract. I said I'd be willing to do a 1 year contract, but not two. Unfortunately she said she couldn't do anything about that, so I cancelled the equipment upgrades. I said my HR22s are painfully slow (which they are), and she said she could set up a free service call. Maybe I can get an upgrade that way. My main box is an HR24, but those three HR22s are just so slow!

No free ST like last year, although I haven't talked to retentions, Only offer I got was half off discount ST Max for $40/4 months, I didn't get it but I did get Redzone channel as standalone, until I decide to get ST Max.

I have been a customer for 7 years, called today and used the line posted previously of "when does my contract expire?" The rep that I spoke with stated he was a senior account rep. I asked him when my contract expired and then asked if I qualified for any Sunday ticket deals as my wife was pressuring me to cancel the package. Right off the bat he offered me Sunday ticket max and 4 months of showtime completely free. I have not received Sunday ticket free the last couple seasons just discounted, which is why i am guessing i was able to get it for free this year.

Called today, customer since 2003. I've received ST free (or for <$100) for at least the past 5-6 years.

Was initially offered half off Max, still $164 or whatever, I declined and asked for just RZC which he offered. Then he checked to "see what else he could do" with no pressure from me, I was going to just take RZC, and he came back with half off plus $15 off per month for 12 months. So

    ST Max: $164
    Discount: $15 x 12 = 180

DirecTV paid me $15 to have ST. No contract extension. Happy customer again.
