I was offered ST MAX for $133. I decided to pass for now.
Sent from my iPhone using DBSTalk
That's less than half. I would have taken that.
Well i called recently, and had to ask first rep to transfer me to retention. In which i asked about discount for upcoming nfl st max. I was offered half off nfl sunday max, 4 payments of 40.99.
I took it as i am not one to be greedy, i just wanted to save compared to the reg price of $330. Plus i notice between $50-$60 in current discounts i was receiving, 6 month deal towards my premier movie package.
Being a 7 year customer ordering ST max every year, with premier channels. I only think its right to help loyal customers save a little money, since dtv constantly offers NFL ST for free to new customers, and current customers who use the movers deal.
Very strange indeed, and now the URL discoliveson posted redirects to TommyBuys (looks like the same site as Dishbuys was last week, albeit a different name) and there's a banner stating "Grand opening sale"...
Annual call and said "contract end date" at prompt and it sent me to an automated response about sports. I waited and sent me back to main menu, tried contract end date again. Went to a different automated response. Hung up called again and said cancel service. Got a rep and ask for any monthly/ST discounts. I was offered $5 off for 6 months, and $30 off ST. I knew this wasn't retention so I ask for contract end date. She says I will transfer you to the department that can answer that. So I talk to the next rep who was nice but only offered me $15 off for 15 months with no discounts on ST, and a small discount on equipment upgrade. She said there are no ST offers right now and to call back closer to season. I knew that was wrong based on other posts. So I finally said, I got ST free with $30 off X12 months last year with a one year commitment. There's nothing like that available? She said no. I ask when my contract was up and was told end of August. I simply said I would call back then to inquire about ST or free equipment upgrades. I'm rather surprised I didn't get a better offer considering its only another month. We'll see what happens next month when I call. Good luck to others as I know its hit or miss with deals.
Nothing to be surprised about as these offers are based on your history with them and these offers are not "general"
I understand the offers are not general and sometimes take multiple calls to get what you want. However been with DTV for 5 years, only call once a year for discounts.
That's just what surprised me seeing it was only a month till the contract ends a better attempt wasn't made as the last time my contract was up. Again, its luck of the draw who you get in retention and what they offer. It was just an unusual call as the rep kept going in circles trying to get me to add premium channels, 5 min later ask to add protection plan, then later ask me to add college football package. I understand its part of what they do to upsell but it got old after being on the phone for 30 min. I'd ask about ST deals and she would say let me look into that I'm sure being a loyal customer we have something for you. Then she'd say I have an offer of mini genies but you need the main genie for $299. Would you like that deal? It never stayed on point as to what I was asking.
Like I said, I'll try again next month and see. At worst, end my contract and sign up as new customer with better deals.
You can't under your name and phone number. You will need to use someone else.
You'll need to wait to be a new customer ... unless your proposing committing fraud. (Proposing fraud is a good way to get kicked off of our website.)
I'm not proposing fraud, perhaps I didn't phrase it correctly. I can leave, then sign back up after a certain time period has elapsed if a better deal isn't available. Although not sure how long one has to wait to be considered a new customer, I guess maybe 12 months.
I'm sure another call or two closer to the end of my contract a better offer on ST will be available.
You will never be a "new customer' ever again. You only get one chance at that. Although not being one does not preclude from getting "returning" customer promos
its 30 days at the most. We thought we sold our house so I disconnected. I was not under contract. We were planning on renting and the owner only allowed dish. Within 3 weeks I received offers to come back. Free Sunday Ticket, 34.99 12 months with choice, and 10 off second year. upgrade equipment. basically same package as when I signed up. Oh, I signed up with Dish and Directv offered 200 towards cancelation fee. Worked out great by the way.
That is how it used to be years ago. This has all changed with Directv and Dish. Even Siruis XM gives you 5 months for 20 bucks and when its up I cancel, then a month later I get another 5 for 20. Best way for Directv and Dish to stop all of this is to get rid of 2 year contract and give a decent deal but don't have to over sell
a few years ago i left dtv for cable. a month later, dtv started sending me mail to come back. they offered me the same exact thing they were offering new customers aat that time.
I got a similar offer as the 15x15. I was offered $10x12 and a $100 Visa gift card. My 1-year contract is up this month.
I'm sure some people are getting good deals but let's just say that I don't believe everything I read.
i am neither a new customer nor moving but i got sunday ticket for free this year with a one year contract.
Well it is always a bit tricky getting deals/discounts, when you already have some active on an account. I just recently did there genie upgrade with 1 main box and two other boxes. It was kind of a forced upgrade though, as lightning hit close to home, and sent a good surge threw the dish lines. In which fried one box, and few pieces of equipment.
I was under contract and called twice a month from June-August. My issue was when actually did sell our house we moved. Because I was at 11 months since we signed up they would not budge on No Movers Deal and making me pay 300 to move. However, after explaining my situation and how close I was I was charged $179, but given a $50 credit and 10 off sunday ticket per 5 months (at the time). So why did I call back, well the guy forgot to add the discount to my ST account. So finally a week before season, I called and the girl threw it in for free.
The days of paying full rate for service (tv & internet, home phone) are over. As long as you call when your promotion period is up, they will give you a discount. And you just be honest, don't threat with canceling, just ask what they can do to get your bill down.
i hve never threatened to cancel. i do as you suggested and i usually end up with a good deal.
