The Sabres game on MSGHD was blacked out Friday. Don't think the dispute is over.
I don't see the MSG HD feeds reflected in the CI schedule on the DirecTV website. I don't think that the dispute is settled.
After watching the debacle in Dallas firsthand last night, maybe Dolan did us a favor to discourage watching this piss poor effort from an unmotivated group of players; Renney needs to get tough and sit some vets or he's toast.
I've been there and have done that. That is an awesome place.I got my photo taken with the cup back in 03.That's a great drive up and around the lake.We have 1st row seats on the 2nd deck center ice.
Great seats in an awesome stadium. I hope you see a great game but, sorry to say I hope the Leafs win since that's my team.
I agree that was a very piss-poor effort in Dallas for the Rangers. Not much different that other recent games. Simply said. Things better change BIG TIME IMMEDIATELY or heads will roll. I like Tom Renney and think he's a good coach, but fear his job is on the line. His veterans aren't playing like they should. He knows it and the rest of the team knows it.
Just because the Islanders and Devils HD games are now back on MSG doesn't mean the fued is over b/w the NHL and MSG. Rangers games (remember, MSG only owns the Rangers, not the Islanders or Devils) are still not back on NHL CI in HD. MSG owns the TV rights for the Islanders and Devils, and for all we know, these two teams threatened MSG and/or the NHL to allow the HD feeds back on NHL CI. I hope the MSG HD dispute is over SOON. I want to see my Rangers in HD. Luckily, they are on Versus Monday, and also, they can't play as bad as their did in Dallas, can they?
As I said, "a bad hockey game is better than a good day at work" which also applies to fishing. That would make a great bumper sticker wouldn't it ? Wait a minute, it is ! <lol>
Toronto is a great city.
Isn't there a 'Free NHL Centre Ice' preview coming soon? If so, when? Or did I miss it already..........thanx
DirecTV Free Preview of NHL Center Ice
Free Preview for: NHL Center Ice
Available to Subscribers of: DirecTV
Free Preview Begins: February 16, 2009 (Monday)
Free Preview Ends: February 22, 2009 (Sunday)
On the Center Ice schedule for DirecTV I see this listed:
Ottawa Senators at Buffalo Sabres | 7:30pm | 215 | 215
Ottawa Senators at Buffalo Sabres | 7:30pm | 215
I'm assuming that the feed the NHL Network will use is the TSN feeds as they've used for past games. So what does it mean that there's also a Sabres feed on the NHL Network channel? The same listing was present for the last Sabres' NHL Network game but I couldn't figure it out for the life of me.
That's a mess up, the Sabres feed with be on one of the MSG channels which will be blacked out to all markets, even without the dispute going on. TSN has better coverage in my opinion anyway
Ok, that's what I assumed. I didn't think they had a way to put two feeds on one channel - I had checked for alternate audio but there was none.
Being a NJ Devil fan, and living in Fla, actually all I care abouth is the NJ Devil games in HD, which they are now...Did not check out the Ranger games though, but I see from reading the posts here, that they are in SD...too bad...The game tonight is on Versus TV in HD....Hope the devils can do to the Rangers what the Stars did to them Sat night....
I tuned in to the Montreal vs Calgary game on CI last night and it was the WORST picture I have ever seen on TV I am with Direct network.
It look all streaky and all most like a negative I checked with my son and he had the same problem.
Did any one else notice this problem also?
Yes, I saw that also. I have noticed it on some of the Canadian broadcasts before. They are either using inferior equipment to shoot the game with or over compressing the video that is sent out to the US satellite and cable companies. I remember reading someplace a year or so ago that all Canadian games go through the NHL Center in Toronto, before being sent out to satellite and cable companies. If this is true, and the satellite and cable companies receive it this way, there is not much that can be done to correct it.
You're with DirecTV or Dish Network? What size TV do you have?
I'm with DirecTV and didn't notice anything.
Yes I am with DISH Network I really did NOT prof read that one very well
I have a 42" Pany HD set. Like I said I have NEVER seen a picture like this on any TV set I have ever owned.
Some of the Canadian TV feeds seem dark but none of them were ever as bad as this one.
The picture was indeed terrible, almost unwatchable on a 64" HD TV.
Unfortunately, we don't have any Canadian HD broadcasts on CI, thus the Wednesday and Saturday coverage on the NHL Network is the only HD available in the US.
If you combine the lack of Canadian sourced HD with the current denial of MSG HD broadcats for 4 teams and the less than 100% coverage and/or diminished quality of some other teams, Center Ice's value has been greatly reduced. If this continues, the NHL needs to lower the price of CI, or raise the price if that money can be used to secure solid contracts for HD with MSG, Rogers SportsNet and TSN. :bang
Considering that Canadian HD Feeds have never been available, how do you reason that the price should be reduced or the value has been reduced? That is the same as past years.
Some people here think that it is a right to have every game in dual feeds and in HD on both feeds. That isnt realistic at this point in time. The service is head and shoulders above what it was two years ago.
If MSG was smart, they would yank the feeds totally off Directtv and use them to increase their service in the area that they cover(like comcrap does in Phily). Cutting them off from people who cant order their service is pretty stupid.
And unless the NHL network carries HNIC in the playoffs, which is doubtful with Versus having the rights (unless for the games that they show as bonus coverage), those hd feeds go away at the most important time of the year.
I have said this many times, if you want Canadian HD feeds bad enough, get a Canadian Dish from Bell or Starchoice. They are probably never going to be on Directtv. And the Canadian dishes carry very few American HD feeds and only one feed of each game. If you want the perfect package, you need to get both (as I have)
If you want the price raised to get these feeds, that is probably going to entail some sort of Superfan package, which most people won't want to do, but again, it isnt fair for the people without HD service to pay the same price(and the hd access fee doesnt cut it in this case)
The Canadian HD feeds are on NO USA pay TV feed, cable or satellite I have no idea why but that is how it is.
As far as the playoffs go if they are on VS then the HD feed will be on VS as they now have their own HD channel they no longer share the HD channel with golf. When they have a hockey broadcast they always have the HD version on.
