I just attempted to view channel 215, NHL network and got the channel not purchased 721 message. I called D* and asked why this was not available during the free view of the center ice package. She stated the NHL network was only available on the Choice Xtra programing package and above. Last year the NHL network was available to view during the half season Center Ice ticket. I only lost the availiability to to view it until 5 days ago. Seems that this might be some payback by D* toward the NHL buy moving them to a higher tier, thus reducing viewership. Cha - Ching $$ :eek2:

I asked if I would receive the NHL Channel if I subscribed to the Center Ice ticket. The CSR again stated that only customers with the Choice Xtra and above would get it.

I currently have the Total Choice package, Member since 1996

Damnit the same crap is happeneing this year. WHY CAN'T DIRECTV GET THEIR BLACKOUTS STRAIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Directv blacks me out of MSG because I am in CT and they say NESN is my home RSN, BUT..................

I am ALSO blacked on on the NHL network because I am deemed to be in the Rangers local area. I AM NOT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, at least not according to Directv.

I have tried and tried and tried to get this straightened out. I have emailed MSG, DIRECTV AND THE NHL and get absolutely nowhere.

Anyone else have any ideas on how I can get this resolved? Who is at fault here?

I am yet again stuck not being able to watch the game AT ALL.

Blackout rules are not made by DirecTV or any service provider. They are made by the NHL and DirecTV and the other service providers have to abide by them. But, sometimes the techs controlling the video are not the sharpest tools in the shed. Have you checked out this web site and put your zip code into it: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=P3000004

If it is different, from what you are getting, I would call DirecTV and they usually can get it corrected. I have had that problem before with CI & EI and a call usually fixed the problem. One time it was messed up because the Atlanta RSNs were programed into our area by mistake.

    Here's what it says...

New England Sports Network (Ch. 628) - HD Available
    Boston Bruins (HD Available)

    Red Sox (HD Available)

CSN New England (Ch. 630) - HD Available
    Boston Celtics (HD Available)

Yankee Ent. & Sports (YES) (Ch. 631) - HD Available
    New Jersey Nets (HD Available)

    Yankees (HD Available)

SportsNet New York (Ch. 639) - HD Available
    Mets (HD Available)

That is it. It does not say the Rangers. Now this means I SHOULD be able to see the NHL network when the Rangers are on, but I am blacked out there because the NHL seems to think I am in the Rangers local area.

I honestly think Directv has changed my DMA on it's own because years ago I used tobe able to get upto 60 Rangers games on MSG(only 22 were blacked out). But something changed a few years ago and suddenly I got NOTHING Pro related on MSG and FSNY and I started getting FSNE(which I used to be blacked out on years ago) and Celtics games.

Now the kicker is, when I look at MSG network, they continue to tell me that where I am, I STILL should be getting uoto 60 Rangers games based on where I am at in CT. This is where I think the issue lies. I think Directv changed my DMA ON THEIR OWN. These changes are NOT reflected in the blackout lists they receive from the leagues and thus why tonight's situation occurs.

I have talked to Directv over and over and tried to let them know about this but have gotten nowhere. I am at my wits end trying to get this fixed.

I was just looking at the guide for tomorrow to make sure I can get the Canucks feed. They play the Avs at 3est. Much to my surprise there are 4 seperate channels for it! 2sd and 2hd! Does anyone know what is up with this?

I just feel so frustrated right now, I don't know what to do.

No Versus, no MSG-HD, no Canadian HD feeds.

Whats a hockey fan to do? :(

Would be awesome if they got Rogers Sports Net Feeds. Though I think it may be a mistake, please keep me posted!

Posted this in the Versus thread, but wanted to post it here as well. I think it is important to throw out there

What's a hockey fan to do?

Be the instigator and get in a fight with Gary Bettman. It's worth 5 minutes in the penaltybox.

I was just thinking the same thing. It seems like we're going backwards in terms of hockey coverage and HD broadcasts. MSG HD affects the Rangers, Sabres & Islanders. Comcast Philly HD games are pretty much non-existent. No Versus means quite a few less games this year. Despite all this, the NHL Center Ice package is still priced at $164. IMO, if D* is giving big discounts for CI, it means they might know the future doesn't look very promising for D* Center Ice fans.

No it's more like not paying for VS frees up capital .20 *15,000,000 = $3,000,000 per month. So take that and divide how many NHLCI subs you get. Ok it's 18293 (rounded) that's about how many hockey fans exist now(ok sorry couldn't help it). So now they just save money until the dispute is over. So right now they're doing deals based on accounts to help people get through this. They can help you get more hockey than you would just get with VS. So they are actually helping the NHL by doing this. The more people with more access to each game increases overall ratings.

This doesn't sound right. It comes with Center Ice https://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/sports/nhl?footernavtype=-1 but if you don't have Center Ice it's been in a higher tier for a while.

I guess another call to D* is in order. I wondered why the NHL channel would not be part of the Center Ice package.

It's odd that people are having trouble with the NHL Network. I'm an NHLCI subscriber and have had the NHL Network all off season and it's still there. The first year it was in operation they pulled it from me after the season but not this year.... The DirecTV website clearly says if you are an NHLCI subscriber you get the NHL Network....

According to their web site, it is part of the CI package.
It doesn't have any stipulation about needing certain packages to get it.

Why don't you all stop complaining about the lack of Canadian HD feeds NO one gets any Canadian HD feeds other than NHL Network and they never have so forget it and stop wasting space on this non issue. Remember this is not a D* or E* problem.
