You reminded me of another reason I hate NHL Network games. They cut out the intermissions, which can be quite interesting across all RSN's. Anywhere from little games the announcers play to little featurettes about hockey in that particular area. They're a lot more fun to watch than on the fly, which I can catch any time at night.

I'm in the NYC area.I hate seeing FLYERS games on the NHLN because I get blacked out with their extended blackout radius.I'm fine with CI RSN's,but the NHLN I get screwed !
My biggest fear is that they will get a Flyers playoff series NOT against a NY/NJ area team !

My biggest hope for the 2011-2012 season is that DirecTV starts carrying the local Los Angeles area KDOC-TV in HD. They have an HD feed, but DirecTV only carries it in SD. They broadcast about 15% of all of the Anaheim Ducks games, and thus..... I have to watch them in SD.

The first round of playoffs this year were also broadcasted by KDOC here in the L.A. area, and 2 out of the 7 games were in SD only because of that, the other 5 were played on HD channels such as FSN. (Although, only 6 games were need to have our asses handed to us by Nashville, and as such only 4 games were in HD instead of 5).

Sometimes it amazes me what OTA channels wind up carrying local sports. This is one of those times.

The schedule for 2010-2011 was posted one day before the Awards show and speculation is that it will be out today. But it isn't posted on NHL.com -- yet.

Yep.... besides Anaheim Ducks hockey, they really don't have anything that is worthwhile watching in HD. The other big thing might be Chivas USA Soccer. And re-runs of Law&Order, of which there is an overflow of on 5+ channels it seems like, as there are like, what, 5 variations of it now, and some of them have been running for 10+ years....

Then there is Frasier, Star Trek: Next Generation, and a few others 90ies shows. Some of which might have been remastered in HD, but mostly aren't.

So we're stuck. Not enough HD programming to make it worth while for DirecTV, but enough sports for it to generate a demand for HD.

D* added WCIU HD and out side of sports there is little to no HD on it (now there is a little more)

Still unnamed? Won't they be the Jets again?

It looks like they are going to be called something else...which IMO is stupid. The ownership have seemed like they wanted to get away from the Jets name from the beginning.

The new winnipeg can be called the Jets if they want too. the NHL own the rights to the Jets name and have said they will allow the new Winnipeg team to be called the Jets.

No changes were made to the schedule this year. Winnipeg will assume the spot that Atlanta had in the Southeast. Any realignment changes would be reflected in the schedule for the 2012- 2013 year.

One does wonder if Phoenix moves to someplace like Hamilton or Quebec City if they will just make the simple swap? Would make lots of sense, no wait, bettman is involved, scratch that.

Hopefully if that happens they completely redo the divisons entirely rather than just shift teams around until something fits. I would be very unhappy if my Wild end up in a division with 4 Canadian teams.
