You may not like it, but I strongly suspect your Wild will wind up in a division with four Canadian teams. I don't know how to draw up the divisions to avoid this, regardless of what Phoenix does.

If Phoenix stays put, my best guess on division realignment would be something like this:

    West:
    1. VAN CGY EDM WPG MIN
    2. SJ LA ANA PHX COL
    3. DAL STL CHI NSH CBJ

    East:
    1. DET OTT TOR BUF PIT
    2. MTL BOS NYR NYI NJ
    3. PHI WSH CAR TB FLA

Of course, with my history (or lack thereof) of predicting what will happen, the above will be nowhere near what actually transpires.

Don't forget OTA feeds. Although fewer games are on OTA networks, they are still a nice touch to the package

Yes, but the NHL has retained the rights to the Jets name, logo, colors, etc.... so a new Winnipeg name COULD use this name and logo at any time. The Coyotes are basically a new team with no claim to the Jets name.

And then there's the rare (maybe 5 times a season?) arena JumboTron feed broadcasts w/radio commentary - those are always, uh, "interesting"...

The 2011-2012 season schedule is supposed to be released today. I just went to the NHL website. There is a section in the "filter" for the schedule where you can select 2011-2012, but when you do you get the message "no games scheduled."

If Phoenix stays put and Dallas gets moved to the Central instead of the Wild, I will be one very unhappy camper.

The 2011-2012 schedule is now up on the NHL website. Not surprisingly, there is no name for the team in Winnipeg. Their listings are "Winnipeg NHL."

So Dallas in the Pacific makes sense? At least Minnesota is relatively close to Manitoba. To really make sense, Nashville belongs in the SE and Detroit and Columbus belong in the East. There are just too many teams in the East and North to make it all make sense.

Looking at the schedule for Montreal... October will suck. 4 or 5 games out of 10 won't be HD including the first three: Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary...

The front runner is the Manitoba Falcons. The Winnipeg Falcons have a strong history behind that name. They represented Canada in the Olympics, winning a gold medal and they also won the Allan Cup. They were more successful than the Jets were and were around well before the Jets existed. In a way, the Falcons name would be recognizing the city's roots.

There's talk that the league will move to 4 divisions and go back to divisional playoffs. Rumors also have both Detroit and Columbus going to the east in this alignment.
The Samuelis which own the Ducks, own a portion of KDOC which is why they air games. Years ago, KCAL had the OTA rights when Disney owned the team and the channel. Having games on KDOC is better then nothing.

Now that would really be interesting. If you have divisional playoffs with four divisions, would there still be two conferences, or would the four divisions be part of the same, single grouping? If there are still two conferences and both Detroit and Columbus move east, then either you'd have to move someone else west, or you'd have to be content with having 16 teams east and 14 west (like how the MLB is now with 16 in the NL and 14 in the AL). Of course, if you go with four divisions, it might make sense to have more teams in one conference since that would allow the two divisions of each conference to have the same number of teams - you'd have 8 per division in the east and 7 per division in the west.

you know why Bettman wants to do that? he expanded the league south and it is failing. Most good teams are in the NE. 4 divisions geographically chosen means Montreal boston buffalo philly rangers devils toronto,... competing for only 4 spots while Florida won't have to fight their way in with those big teams. If more teams like Florida phoenix nashville makes the playoffs several years in a row that is his best bet to finally expand the fan base in these towns. Obviously fans always jump on the bandwagon.
In other words he looks for ways to limit the success of the bigger markets while giving free passes to smaller markets in hope they increase their market that way... It sucks to be in the north east.
