The regular season starts Wednesday October 12th and ends on Sunday April 9th.

No days this year when all 30 teams are in play. But there are two days when 28 of 30 are playing (Tuesday 1/31/17 - day after All-Star Break and Saturday 4/8/17 - Saturday (the season ends the next day)).

    Days with no games
    Monday Oct 31 (Halloween)
Saturday - Monday December 24-26 (Christmas break)***
Friday - Monday January 27-30 (All-Star Break (Los Angeles)
    Thursday Feb 2

There are four outdoor games scheduled this year:
Heritage Classic: Sunday Oct 23 2016 - Edmonton @ Winnipeg, Investors Group Field
Centennial Classic: Sunday Jan 1 2017 - Detroit @ Toronto, BMO Field
Winter Classic: Saturday Jan 2 - Chicago @ St. Louis, Busch Stadium
Stadium Series: Saturday Feb 18 - Philadelphia @ Pittsburgh, Heinz Field

Between Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 63% of the games are played (Sat 21.7%, Tue 21.0%, Thur 20.3%). Monday has 6.9%, Wed has 7.5%, Fri has 10.4% and Sunday has 12.2%.

Can't wait for the season to start.

*** While the NHL is on a holiday break, good time to watch the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship Dec 26 - Jan 5. Being held in Toronto and Montreal. This year's game between US and Canada will start at 3:30 pm EST on Dec 31st. Information and schedules here: http://teamusa.usahockey.com/page/show/2597937-2017-iihf-world-junior-championship

    Great information, thank you.

I'm still hoping they combine the TV package with the online streaming package, like they do with the NBA and MLB.

I'm also still hoping for a game mix channel one day. :)

anyone know when Directv will start taking orders for the NHL Center ice season, usually every Setember 1, they start taking orders, this year is a bit different with world cup of hockey on ESPN. NHL Preseason starts 9/25 I'm not sure if games will be blacked out during preseason on the sports pack.

I noticed in the search sports, i clicked just NHL and saw alot of games in the guide starting Monday.

Alot of games on NHL Network and the sports pack.

Not sure if the games on sports pack will be blacked out or not.

I'd have to imagine NHL Center ice will be taking orders on monday after world cup, or at worst by friday 10/1.

I like ordering early due to the price and I think the price will be what it was last year can't quite remember but I think it was 139 last year, which is cheapest of all the sports packages.

Would also like to see NHL and directv come out with a 8 game channel for NHLCI and a Slapshot channel or something like redzone for hockey.

Just noticed today watching college football on the directv guide, they just turned channel 787 on even though it says sign off still, but for them to put the 1 of the NHL center ice channels even on tells me they getting ready to take orders.

(bringing this over from the NHL Pricing thread)
No luck finding one source, but this site http://blog.mysanantonio.com/sports-media/2016/07/2016-17-nhl-national-tv-schedule-nbc-nbcsn/ has all the NBCSN/NBC games listed.

    :(

Watching a bit of the Toronto/Ottawa game. Rogers just announced that 'this game is available with a Rogers Net 4K TV Package.'

I wonder how long before we get 4K Hockey in the US?

I noticed the late-game (10 pm eastern), was available at 9:45 on CI. Got to see the opening ceremonies with Gretzky and Messier skating at Edmonton.

But nice to see the channel started earlier than advertised to capture that ceremony.
