I've only watched bits and pieces of Altitude broadcasts this year but I remember last year when they showed a game in a Canadian city the quality was horrible. I guess I will give the game a glance tonight and see what you are talking about with the banners and sounds.

Away is first, if there's 2. Or use the RSN if there's one.

Yeah I missed that in the guide from when I was with Dish but I've figured out that the 2nd feed (higher channel number) is usually the "home team" feed.

The thing I hate is when there is only one feed and you're not sure which broadcast is doing the game. It's easy to check the schedule on NHL.com and figure it out but I guess it's more of a convenience thing for me. It's defiantly something I got over quick after seeing all of that glorious HD I had over Dish!

great! thanks for the quick reply - so i can also just record off the main RSN -- they don't black that out (dish does) - i would imagine that's the way to go - plus easier to get post game shows in their entirety..

If you don't have your PC on and the game is on that day, you have another option. It may not be as intuitive, but you can always check the "Score Guide" Channel Info. It will show the RSN that the game is on, but you have to be familiar with the channel numbers or channel descriptions.

Have you ever noticed that no matter how many times we're told that the NHL is a "niche" sport that gets ratings just lower than poker and dog shows, we still turn out in force more than any other sport? Look at the NHLCI thread here every year! Less than a month into every season, this thread becomes so large as to be almost unreadable. You don't see anything else like that here for MLBEI, NFLST, or NBALP.

If space aliens were to land and log onto the Internet, assuming they found this site, they would be lead to believe that hockey is the primary sport in America!

So, it always comes back to whether they don't show hockey (much) because no one is watching, or no one is watching because they don't show hoekcy (much)? Regardless of the answer, we hockey fans do more to see our sport than any others!

I am interested in what is going on north of the border in regards to DBS/cable but so many posts in these threads over the last couple of seasons always have the air of making us dtv viewers feel less than because of our choice of provider.

Unfortunately I think a lot of that is because we have the most to complain about. NFL fans have all games available in HD and MLB/NBA it sounds like are pretty close to that, although I don't have those packages so I can't say for sure. I think this thread would decrease dramatically in size if D* would add Canadian HD feeds, which is the last thing left for Center Ice to do since the MSG HD nonsense finally got resolved.

100% right about there being more issues, although theres also no "redzone" nhl channel, no mix channel, and most importantly theres no football team that you cannot watch in your local market unless you subscribe to a certain TV provider which for some of us is not even available in our area (although the latter is another issue entirely, it was just fresh in my mind since im anticipating a 727 error code on versus in about an hour)

I agree, I would love to hear from those with Canadian Dishes compared to Directv CI. I know that a majority of the Canadian teams are going to be broadcast in HD on the Canadian dish. The fact of the matter is the Canadian teams only make up for 20% of the league, the other 80% are in the US. Are all the games available on the Canadian providers Dish in HD (all 30 US + Canadian teams)? If yes, then their service is better. But if no, then who delivers more games in HD? I haven't searched hard, but are all the games on Bell (or any other providers CI package) in HD?

Now not only is DISH chasing people way from their service, with the FOX dispute, it is really messing things up for us DirecTV CI subscribers with not being able to see the other teams feed, when our local teams are not carrying the game. Last we could we could see them and now that is a thing of the past.

I can't say for sure but I follow a forum in Canada and I don't think they get nearly as many HD games. I am pretty sure they don't get MSGHD feeds still. At least with Telustv.

Thanks for this info. And I have heard people say that Directv is the best bet if you live in the US. Maybe Direct is the best bet even outside the US. Anyone with a Canadian Dish CI want to weigh in on the HD of teams both inside and outside of Canada?

Someone must of been drunk when typing out the online schedule this week.

I see they have a HD feed (or a Coyotes feed for that matter) for tonight's Coyotes-Sens game.

I see they have a HD channel for the Panthers-Canadiens game on Saturday night, channel 769-1? I don't have a HD channel for 769?

I don't think there's any games scheduled for this Sunday? But in any case the games Directv has listed for Sunday are being played on Monday.

So who controls the NHL stats channel on channel 769, the NHL or Directv? It has been showing scores OK but I think I've seen the stats and standings work one day since the season began?

Also it seems that the NBA stats channel has "real time" scores with the game clock counting down while a game is in progress. Why can't the NHL channel do this? Also, I know it's the first day of the NBA season but I see they at least have stats scrolling on the channel and live look ins at box scores!

I have CI on both DirecTV and Shaw Direct. In terms of number of HD feeds, D* wins easily. Most all the American-team games have both HD feeds available, if they exist. Shaw will just have one feed of the game - luck of the draw what you get.

Tonight is a bad night for D* HD with 5 Canadian teams playing in six games - here's a quick rundown of the HD games on both for this evening's games:

Buf/Phi - Vs on D*, TSN2 (Vs. Simsub) on Shaw
    Fla/Tor - Rogers on both
Ana/Dal - Both FS feeds on D*, FS Stars on Shaw
    Pho/Ott - Rogers on Shaw
    Edm/Cal - Rogers on Shaw
Col/Van - Altitude on D*, Rogers on Shaw

So, Shaw wins tonight unless you are a Ducks fan who wanted the home HD feed. But on most other given nights, D* has more HD.

I just like to have them all personally :)
