Watching now and everything is just so white that it makes the ice look like you are watching the action through a shaken up snow globe... This is on our plasma so perhaps I'll go see what it's like on the lcd..

Edit: lcd does indeed look slightly better. Odd how most sportsnet sd feeds end up looking better on the plasma..

I think this is the first WGN feed we got tonight? Too bad we couldn't get the HD feed.

There is no HD feed for the Edmonton-Carolina game because Carolina isn't broadcasting the game tonight. It's a Versus exclusive night and they can't broadcast the game because of this. Thanks NHL! :nono2:

You'll only get local OTA broadcast feeds if there is no other feed available. Otherwise, you're out of luck.

It's good news for locals when a team puts some games on broadcast, but bad news for out-of-market viewers.

Getting really sick of this Versus Exclusive US broadcasting. If they are going to have exclusive rights then there should be no games (like MLB Sunday Night Baseball). I guess at least we get most of the games (albeit, in crappy SD), but it I don't think it makes sense to punish the local markets this way.

i was watching the EDM CAR game on NHL game center live with no problems, I live in philly the VS game was crapitals vs rangers.

They were using the Oilers feed rogers sports net due to car not carrying the game.

He meant to say "no other games scheduled" (expect the one game on Vs).

The game was on Center Ice just fine. I think everyone is saying since it was a Vs. exclusive game night that the Canes couldn't televise the game. So that meant no HD feed on Center Ice tonight because of that.

well i noticed that all the games on tonight had canada broadcasting.

when I put on the Tor TB game, I could only watch the leafs feed, same with canadiens, senators, and canes.

which was weird usually you have the option of watching games on FSN but i really didnt think as to why it was, but the VS thing probably had something to do it.

However I was able to watch the games so I ok.

Yeah, it is that Versus has the exclusive rights to broadcast the Tuesday games before a certain time. So if it is a US team, they will not have a broadcast. I have noticed that almost all (if not all) the games have had at least one Canadian team. So, for us CI customers, that means we do get a broadcast, even if it is only crappy SD.

I know that these games seem to occur on Tuesday's. But I remember someone saying that later in the season the "exclusive" Versus games will be on Monday. Could someone point me to a link that gives the info on these "exclusive" broadcast rules.

I can't find the exact rules either but Versus gets to declare a certain number of games "Exclusive" which means that no other U.S. media outlet can broadcast them. Hence why you see no other U.S. RSN broadcasting the game. That however does not preclude Canadian media outlets from broadcasting the games and their broadcasts can be used for NHL Center Ice.

The problem arises when there are two U.S. teams playing. I know on December 20th the Sabres and Ducks are playing, and that game won't be broadcast anywhere by anyone - and therefore there will be no way to watch the game.

Typically they try and avoid scheduling games during the Versus window.

im confused, if versus declares caps rangers exclusive why are the hurricanes not allowed to broadcast on their local rsn? i dont recall this problem existing in previous years.

by that logic next monday will be a mess, blues avs is only on versus so devils bruins both msg and nesn will have to pull coverage as well as rangers pens??? that makes no sense. tuesday has issues as well.

Not every game on Versus is a U.S. exclusive. It may be the only channel to watch the game, but other U.S.-based games can be shown as well.

On some nights, though, Versus is the only U.S. broadcaster allowed to show games, with a loophole allowing Canadian broadcasts to be shown on Center Ice. You won't get HD for many of those since DirecTV chooses not to pay more for the HD feed as they get the SD feed as part of its Center Ice agreement. The costs for carrying HD feeds, though, are on DirecTV's dime.
