Game Center has some intermission programming but not all. At this point I can't see much of a pattern for why some are included and others are not.

I'm on the very of cancelling NHLCI and just going with Game Center. The feeds don't look as good when connected to my TV but at least I'm getting the Canadian fees consistently.

I have to say the Avs feed for this Toronto game is one the best PQ wise I have watched in a while.

I haven't had NHL CI for a few years and have been checking out things in during the free preview. I am a Philadelphia Flyers fan and noticed that on Saturday 10/11 vs. Montreal and Tuesday 10/14 vs. Anaheim both offered "Flyers feeds" in addition to the other teams' feeds.

    Is this new?

I am not used to seeing CSN Philadelphia feeds on NHL CI. If this can be expected for all eligible games (I realize some on NBC SN and NHLN will not be on NHL CI) I might come back to NHL CI.

DirecTV started carrying Flyers feeds regularly last November or December (forget exactly when). Not all Flyers broadcasts have been available since, but the vast majority have been there.

A couple good signs this week (at least, according to the guide):
    1. Tonight, both the Edmonton/Arizona and the Calgary/Chicago game tonight have dual feeds including the Canadian Sportsnet feed. I hope this is true - will be nice to be able to flick back and forth between both of these.

    2. On Friday, both the Toronto/Detroit game and the Vancouver/Edmonton game are also both showing up with Canadian HD feeds.

Will there be any last minute disappointments.. We'll see..

    Hi Steve.

Always happy to see Canadian feeds, especially tonight when the PQ on both SN feeds was far superior to the CSNC and FSAZ feeds.

I wish I could make some sense of DirecTV's plans for Canadian HD, but so far it's very random.

Last night we did not get any of the 3 feeds.

    Tonight we got both.

    Tomorrow, we're not getting Ottawa.

    Friday, we're getting 2 of 4.

Saturday, CI gets 1 of 2, that being the back end of the HNIC DH.

The best news is no game, so far, with 2 Canadian sides has been SD only.

Hopefully, that's the last time I have type SD in this thread.

tuesday's flames/preds game was from sportsnet(preds did not televise the game). the leafs game from tsn was not available .

i would not expect to see every game with dual feeds with canadian teams. once the nba gets in full swing, you will likely see less. it is the nature of the beast. as long as every game is in hd with one feed, it is good enough for me.

After twelve seasons of NHLCI I've decided to pull the plug. DirecTV has finally lost me. The addition of the NHL Network to the Xtra package and the lack of consistent dual feeds from Canada has finally tipped the balance for me. I'm now using Game Center and even with its limitations I'm happy to know I can get a Canadian feed if I want one.

It took two phone calls during which neither CSR made any attempt to offer me credits although they were eager for me to take on HBO free for three months.

Audio is screwed up again on Canucks/Oilers. Cannot hear the studio analysts, in-game audio is OK.

But, boy oh boy, the picture is terrific.

I don't know what it is about Rexall Place, but all games from there look good, especially Canadian produced feeds.

Is it the lighting in the arena, as I'd guess the equipment is standard?

As I said in previous posts, content is no longer an issue. Every game is available in HD for Directv to broadcast. No rights issues or technical limitations from a content perspective. It is simply bandwidth and business decision. WGN, TSN, Comcast Philly etc...All are easily accessible via NHL partner broadcast centers. Philadelphia in US and Toronto in Canada. Yes, contracts with Comcast and Rogers provide the framework. The league also had to get owners to give up complete rights to HD in out of market. Dolan can no longer hold the league hostage.

I wish the -1 would evaporate from guide as an acknowledgment that we will no longer get SD. I know NBA season will be the test if we lose out on our HD only season.

Directv has WGN 9 as a full time OTA channel (but it needs bandwidth to show it on the CI) now will they have it for Bulls games not on WGNA and for MLB next year? (or they can just take the Shaw Broadcast Services feed) (looks like next week WGN HD will be back for CI)

What about games on WCIU (bulls and cubs / sox)?

WGN9 is on a spotbeam, it still takes extra bandwidth as they need to reuplink it to a Conus feed for CI. It's not like remapping a RSN they already carry in the 600s to the 700s

I doubt they use Shaw's feed, the NHL and NBA provide special wild C-Band feeds for things that aren't available regularily on satellite. Especially now that both Shaw and Bell switched to beams that more tightly hug Canada and aren't easily available in the southern US, not to mention the potential of rain fade that comes from using their Ku-Band feeds.

The NBA and NHL provide their own wild C-Band feeds for channels that aren't available in the USA or don't have a feed available via satellite. iNDemand's uplink center is in Denver at the Comcast Media Center, Shaw's HD feeds for most of their channels are on Anik G1 and Anik F2 with a beam that gets weaker the more south you go.

It took them until 7:07 to get the correct Jets/Flames feed up. For a few minutes they were showing a drama from FX Canada before taking it down and putting the blue technical difficulties screen up. Then they got the correct CITY feed.

Once again the studio audio is completely hosed. Does anyone at D* monitor these channels to make sure they are functioning properly? Obviously not.
