The absence of the Leafs feed shouldn't have come as a surprise as the game was on TSN. In previous years, they might have provided an SD feed but with the decreased commitment to providing Canadian feeds this year this one fell by the way side completely.

Seems like a step back, with CI, this year. Glad I went to GC. Last night's Calgary and Vancouver feeds had excellent PQ. As good as any I saw during the CI preview.

There has been a step back and like you, I've ditched NHLCI for Game Center which provides an excellent alternative.

Anyone watching Game Center on a compatible Sony Bravia? Just wondering if you can watch the games in full screen and what the picture quality is like.

I am watching it on my brand new Sony KDL60W630B, using my Roku 3 and like I previously mentions had great PQ last night on the Vancouver and Calgary feeds, plus all of the US team feeds. Also looks good on my older 57" HDTV rear projection Mitsubishi, using my XBox.

I also can view it using the Sony App, built into the TV, but you don't have any choice of what feed you want to see.

OK thanks. I don't really use the apps on my HX950 but the thought of watching all NHL games sounded appealing, until you mentioned the lack of choice of the feed. I also own a PS4 though.

Anyone want to split GC 2 ways or potentially 3 ways?

Unlike MLB.TV, the site will knock other users from different IP addresses off.

Is that new because a friend and I shared it before.

Based on a chat I had with NHL GC support, the service doesn't detect ip addresses. It goes by devices. You can use up to 5 DIFFERENT devices simultaneously. I can use my PS4, my Sony Bravia, my iPhone, my laptop etc. But if I connect with TWO laptops at the same time then I'm cut off.

DOH! I just realized I could go into my custom list and remove the SD feeds. Guide looks much cleaner now.

Looks like we're getting the SportsNets feeds in HD but not the TSN feeds.

This sounds correct. Two simultaneous logins to the "regular" flash player resulted in kicking off the other person.

NHLCI subscriber for many years now. Have noticed not as many Canadian feeds "so far" this year. What is going on? Also, tonights game, Nashville @ Calgary has no HD feed from "either" team. I have never seen that before. Usually, you receive at least a U.S. feed. Hope this won't be a year long thing.

The guide didn't show it, but Nashville's HD feed was up on the -1 channel.

Both feeds were in HD. They just disappeared from the guide for some odd reason, although my DVR recorded the Calgary feed just fine in spite of the feed disappearing.

I suspect the Canadian TV shakeup with the Rogers contract may have something to do with it, since it means a lot of games are now on channels DirecTV hasn't had to carry in the past, and given how much money Rogers spent on the new contract, I have a feeling the cost to DirecTV to pick up the feeds may be too high as well. Having said that, the situation appears to be getting a little better, as I have noticed a few more dual feeds of Canadian games.

You should also add the new TSN channels that carry games regionally.

There is only two reasons you do not see a feed or HD feed. Business and bandwidth. It has nothing to do where or who is broadcasting the game. That is yesterday's news. Directv has access to every feed. Period.

Actually, it absolutely makes a difference who is broadcasting the game. The feeds are not free to DirecTV, and some are more expensive than others. That falls in the category of business, in your post.

By the end of last year, DirecTV was regularly using four HD sources from Canada: CBC, SNO, SNP, and (eventually) SNW. So far, these are the only feeds that have shown up with any regularity on CI. The other feeds from Canada (SNE, SNF, SNOL, SNV, SN1, SN360, CITY, CITY-M, TSN3, TSN4, and TSN5) have only appeared when there is no other option. I'm not saying DirecTV has no access, for they obviously do. What I am saying is that it's not economical for them to use those feeds at the present time. That could change as they improve capacity (they are launching a new satellite, after all), but that's how it is.

Maybe more people who want Canadian feeds for Canadian teams should cancel NHLCI to make the point to DirecTV that they are not serving their customers.
