And the picture looked great.
On Sunday the Hawks game is on NHL Network and the Rangers/Canes are on 215-1. I assume as a Ranger fan in Chicago that i will have to watch the Rangers on 215-1, not on CI
No, you should be able to watch on CI with no problem. The alternate game on NHL Network does not affect availability on Center Ice, only their feature game, the one on 215.
Thank you, DirecTV, for TSN feeds in HD. It's a pleasure.
I just hope now that there is at least a single HD feed for every game, even when the american team is OTA...
since he lives in Chicago, the 215-1 feed should open up for him. 215 would be blacked out since the hawks are on wgn (channel 9)
Correct, but his question was whether or not he would have to watch the game on 215-1 instead of on Center Ice. The fact that the game is available to him on 215-1 should have no impact on Center Ice availability in his area. If you had the choice, would you rather watch a game on NHLN or on Center Ice? I think most people here would choose the latter.
OP here, I was able to watch on CI. NHL Network is obnoxious, but MSG has had some evenings with lots of games across the various MSG channels and a crawl directing you to the channels showing the other game, so it has been a little less advantageous of late.
They typically only do this for the first period. Then the ticker is completely gone during play.
Incorrect. They typically run it for most of the game and it's annoying as hell. I never thought I'd be rooting to see my team on the overflow channels.
Glad to see hockey back on tonight.
Anyone else miss Ron MacLean on HNIC? I do. My brother and I were talking about this on Christmas and neither one of us like the new host, and he's heard a lot of other people don't like the changes either. What do you guys think?
I must agree with you. Not a fan of the new host.
I know, I am suffering from hockey withdrawal. Lots of games tonight, beer is chilling and the pop corn is ready to be popped.
With all the games on tonight I wish we had a game mix channel for CI.
Would make sense to add a game mix for League Pass and Center Ice to run on certain nights of the week. Maybe the new satellite will allow for this.
Incorrect. Look again? It is very rarely used on Rangers games outside of intermissions..
Ranger games yes, because there's rarely a spillover with the Rangers on primary channel (The Knicks are the priority so the Rangers get bumped). But the Isles and Devils game where one or the other is on MSG+2 feature that damn crawl for at least the first two periods.
An oddity tonight, twofold for us in Vegas.
Ducks are televising over the air in Southern California, and unlike MLBEI, we are NOT blacked of the SportsNet Leafs' feed.
SN had some technical issues early in the first period and for a few minutes we got the Ducks KCOP feed.
SN admitted to having issues when their feed returned.
Which makes one wonder.... Why was only one feed on CI, and why did DirecTV choose the SN feed?
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they did.
Hooray for more Canadian feeds this year!
KCOP feed there may of been local from the truck given to SN.
Good point, Joe. Never considered that.
If true, fair play to SN for going the extra mile to keep their subscribers happy.
At least the game was in the clear here!. Still thrilled the NHLCI blackout rules are not as stupid at MLBEI.
The NHL uses a blackout radius from the home team's stadium whenever a game is televised on an OTA channel instead of an RSN. This is different from MLB EI, which always blacks out the entire team's territory regardless of where a game is televised, or even if it is televised by the home team.
This is why you were able to view the game on CI. I completely agree that the NHL's blackout policy for CI is much better than MLB EI.
