I wish they wouldn't put games on back to back during the playoffs. I wish they were just assign each game to its own channel.

I live in FL. My NBC station has Tampa Bay/Detroit listed.

On 220 it says "Regional Coverage: Conference Quarterfinal" Red Wings at Lightning or Wild at Blues.
On 220-1 it says 'Red Wings at Lightning or Wild at Blues'.

Which seems to follow the link Peter305 posted above that says this:

Since I last posted, the guide was updated to show programming on 220-1 at 3 PM, so it looks like DirecTV is picking up the alternate feed for NBCSN today. However, I cannot tell which game will be on which channel. In theory, the game on the local NBC affiliate will be blacked out, so if you're planning to set DVR recordings for the games, you pretty much have to set three recordings, one on NBC and one on each of the two NBCSN channels. If the guide showed which game was on which NBCSN channel, then this would be easier to plan for.

The important thing, though, is that both games will, or at least should, be there.

To the one complaining about back-to-back games on the same channel, I don't mind that by itself, but I do mind when the games are a mere 2.5 hours apart, which makes overlap a very real possibility even without overtime. A 3-hour gap, as we saw on CNBC, can allow a game to go o overtime and still finish before the following game, depending on how long the OT period goes.

    I wasn't complaining, just making a statement. :)

If both early games go into OT (one did) or even multiple OT's those that want to watch their team in the late games wouldn't be able to do so. If each game had their own channel you wouldn't have to worry about it.

And it sounds like some of the regional coverage got messed up today. http://www.dbstalk.com/topic/217471-redwings-hockey/

I think NHL Network is being used as a backup channel.

Wow, 2 hours since this post and not a single reply.......This could be a VERY interesting decision that may have other ramifications to all sports. Will be interesting to see what DTV comes up with.

Internet package? comcast and other ISP's that own sports nets can just lower download caps to kill this and say by the full tv packages with no data overage charges.

It's only a 20% discount to the entire package. While this is good news for some, I don't see it as earthshaking.

BTW, how does this affect DirecTV's Center Ice package? Looks like it's only Game Center Live.

AT&T U-verse does not even have NHL network But I think they that least get NBCSN reverse mirror feeds that on directv you need to tune to NHL network to see that start of the overlapping games.

U-verse may add NHLCI / MLB EI / NFL ST when they join up with DTV.

The NHL will make available unbundled (single-team) versions of Center Ice to cable and satellite providers. will that still come with free NHL network?? just for the games that you pick? What about when that team plays the local team?? Are you forced to view the local teams feed? can view both if you get both? I can see them not letting you buy very low level pack + 1 team NHL CI. But with a full pack you should get both feeds.

What about people in markets where they are in outer rings (more of an MLB thing) but don't get the local team but are still in market will they miss out? People in Philly who on dish / directv are locked out TCN / CSN in market.

I am just hoping they offer Game Center along with Center Ice, like they do with Extra Innings and MLB-TV. That will bring me back to DirecTV for NHL hockey.
