I thoght that was evident last night, when the FSN West feed was being shown for the Wild/Kings game, and the game was not blacked out on FSNWHD.

Sweet! Now I have to remember to change my recording tonight, since I can't get into the remote booking beta!

This is a legitimate complaint, however. Sure, we all know that the CSR's pull their answers out of their a**es, but that's D*'s responsibility. It only indicates that we NHL fans are not important to them. The canned responses are a way of saying "we'll get to it when we get to it, now shut up and keep paying me!"

Don't worry, this seems to be a pretty resourceful group. Even if they get the CBC games on in HD I am sure people will find something to complain about here. You know, the channel numbering system is clumsy, the telecast cut off a minute of the pregame show, the schedule in the guide isn't updated early enough etc. etc. etc. Let's just hope that we get to the point that those become the issues instead of why is the game on in HD and the channel blacked out.....the good news at the moment is that the trends seem to be going in the right direction.
    :)

Well, it is not at all limited to us NHL fans. Wrong answers, incomplete answers, and "information" pulled outta thin air are provided by CSRs on many and various subjects beyond Center Ice.

You are correct, though. Communication is DirecTV's responsibility, and it is not something they do particularly well (to be fair, though, neither do most of their competitors).

Well, so much for being optimistic that D* was getting competitive with NHLCI. I see that both channels (SD and HD) of Fox Sports Southwest are "not available in my area" tonight. (Must be one of those 'bandwidth' problems.....they must have figured out a way to get extra bandwidth when they black out a game...).

Does remapping a channel use bandwidth?

Devils and Pens on 94 is blacked out for me, since I'm in NJ. I saw the pregame show in HD though.

    Sigh.

Wish I could figure out D* in how games are chosen and the blackout rules. Tonight the NJ/Pit game I get on CI and blacked out on FSNY which is in my local. Not complaining as the game is in HD but the issue being an Islander fan, if the CI feed is something other than FSNY, I can't watch my local announcers.

I'm still optimistic. We are seeing more HD games, and we did see the first ever dual feed from DirecTV last evening. Obviously not tonight, as your experience (and mine) with FSSW indicates.

Why the issues can't all be resolved immediately, I don't know. But we have seen some progress, albeit in fits and starts. I'm not nearly as unhappy as I was the first week of the season.

Tell me about it, this started last year and every time I called, I got the standard scripts regarding blackouts. Did email support and was told that it shouldn't be happening and to call when it happens.

Yes, I get a jumpy picture on 765-1, but channel 94 is OK.

Oh well, got home and the channel is still "to be announced." I left my SD set for the HR20, but I manually set the HR21 to record 3 hours of the -1 channel. Maybe I'll get lucky?

The Kings/Wild game allowed on both FSN-N & FSN-W last night must have been a fluke, because things are back to normal at DirecTV as they are blacking out FSNY & only allowing the Pittsburgh home feed. And I'm not local to either one.

OK, more info here about HD.

FSSW-HD (Fox Sport Southwest HD) channel 643 is broadcasting the Stars/Blue Jackets game in HD. However, they blacked this channel out because DirecTV is only allowing the Blue Jackets home feed which is not in HD. This does not come as a surprise as it's happened before, and it appears DirecTV hasn't changed a thing.

    EDIT

Sorry, I think I had the wrong info. It appears the Ohio feed is in HD (not FSSW-HD), but DirecTV doesn't have a regional FSN-O HD channel yet, so I assume this is why the game is in SD only for the non-local market.

Yes, you have it correct. The only thing I wished D* would have done tonight was have this game on channel 94 instead of the Pens Devils game, as we already get that game through the sub channel.

It also appears that unless the game is actually produced in HD on FSN Pittsburgh or FSN Midwest the sub channel will be dark (no upconversion).

All in all as long as D* continues to add more HD games I will be happy.
