My mistake, it must have been the Detroit channel that I was seeing in the guide. Either way, would have been nice to see the HD.

How the freak can you plan ahead to time shift an event that this "DVR box/service" was set up to do - when they continue to make something as "sacred" as a "programming guide" for a DVR - non-operable.

My patience is running thin with the operations of this company. I'm not slamming the hardware - bugs are always part of the early mix of innovation, but this is stupidity on display from the human-side of D*. They set the program schedule for the guide - so just get it right. Stop beta testing paying customers who shell out a hell of a lot of money for the sports packages only to be treated like a "test cell" for future roll out decisions.

This year's introduction of NHLCI has been nothing short of disastrous. Both for the NHL & D*. Perhaps it's writing on the wall for both entities, but once again an opportunity has been squandered. The NHL, via D*, had a tremendous window of opportunity to showcase it's sport in glorious HD - along with the mantra that D* is the leader in HDTV sports programming. The bandwidth was there. The local broadcasting for HD was there. Yet - the delivery of HD fell well short of what paying subscribers felt they deserved - in spite of the fact that these signals are being carried in native HD.

Stop with the apologies - Stop with excuses. The infrastructure exists to deliver most NHL games on CI in HD, yet D* has been ineffective in achieving this goal for it's subscribers.

I recommend an NHLCI subscriber MANDATORY REFUND for all subscribers who pay for NHLCI, as well as have the additional HD package to receive a refund for all games broadcast in HD on regional sports networks yet not carried in HD by NHLCI.

Okay, so maybe we're not on sound legal footing here, but the PR implications could go far. HD content and delivery is where the action is. Sports programming is at the heart of this. D* has invested in both HD content and sports yet is failing hockey fans across this country. Speak up. Call a CSR. Ask for Retention. Have a friend call a CSR. Don't let a whole season go by without getting the HD Hockey that is already available and being broadcast prevented from getting to your TV - because D* is asleep in the crease.

C'mon, we can do better than this. As people who monitor these forums, you know we can turn the tide with a concentrated effort of email and phone calls. I would hope we wouldn't have to expound this type of energy to get what we are rightfully paying for, but if we don't speak up, it's hockey in SD til June...

    okay...ranting is good

Yeah interesting. I see that both FSN-South and FSN-BA will both have HD feeds, don't know why they're not getting one of them. Maybe that'll change between now and then?

I see 5 games listed in HD for tomorrow, and it looks like we're getting 3 of them.

    WTF!!!!

I go out to dinner and set my DVR to record Kings/Canucks game on FSWPT HD --- Come home, press play and "Searching for Authorized Content"....:flaiming

    WTF!!!

I pay for the Sports Pack, I pay for HD package, I pay for NHLCI... why shouldn't I be able to view hockey games that are the same damn game being shown on the same damn SD channel???!!

My blood is boiling... good thing I don't own a gun:bang

It was blacked out here too. It was only available on 767. I don't understand why they can't give us ALL available feeds? This is starting to p*** me off too. With they way they're doing it you can't set up any game to record from the 600's if you follow one team.

I dont know about anyone else, but I have just about given up on the HD feeds until D* gets over their Anal-Cranial Insertion Syndrome. I record the games and watch them after the wife and kid goes to bed (peace and quiet). Right now I cannot trust any of the HD feeds. Had I known 94 was going to start the game late I would have just recorded the SD feed.

This is a great post. I bolded the part I feel is most important. I've witnessed too many DirecTV apologists in here. We've waited long enough for things to get fixed with the NHL Center Ice package on DirecTV. Remember, there are issues beyond HD which have been going on for years and still persist today. One of the biggest problems that still remains is DirecTV's NHL blackout restrictions, which is now interfering with our ability to watch select games in HD. NOTHING has changed at DirecTV and they are NOT listening to us. For example, last week DirecTV allowed both the home and away feed for the Kings/Wild game. Some people thought things were heading in the right direction just because of this. Well, that was ONE game and since then, things are back to normal and we're only getting one feed. It was a mistake on DirecTV's part which allowed us to watch both feeds. Surprise, surprise.

DirecTV isn't listening to NHL Center Ice subscribers, period. Patience has run out and we need action. Just because they get things right one or two days in a row means nothing. Don't be satisfied until this issue is corrected at DirecTV for the long run.

I too agree that Directv is not now and has not EVER listened to Center Ice subscribers. I have been a Center Ice subscriber since it has been available. I have contacted Directv numerous times about the lack of both feeds for Center Ice. Now with the addition of the HD sports networks it is getting even worse. I CAN understand the blackout of my local (Penguins) teams opponent's feed, but there is no reason I should not be able to choose which feed to watch with other teams. No amont of complaining on my part to Directv has ever changed anything. Maybe if enough people complained, it might make a difference.

I don't want to start a discussion about Directv vs. Dish, but just take a look at the difference in the schedules. For the most part Dish will always show 2 feeds (when avaibable) for every game scheduled, plus CBC's HNIC starts at 6:30 EST for " CBC HNIC Saturday Night ". Both charge the exact same price for Center Ice!

The most "believeable" answer I have ever received from Directv is a difference in contract's between DTV and Dish. This needs to change.... Maybe the complaint's should be directed to the NHL about how poor Directv has been in dealing with this situation.. I just don't know..

Bottom line is "If a game is available in my area, regardless of which channel is carrying it, HD or SD, just let me watch it".

OK so I would like to pose a question...:) If the contracts are different (highly doubt) wouldn't the subscription rates also be different? If Dish can show more (highly doubt) why don't Dish customers pay more?:confused:
Does this mean that the monster DirecTV negotiated an inferior contract with the NHL? No way....the contracts are exactly the same & Dish has figured out how to do it & DirecTV hasn't.
There is no way the NHL would set up a competative dis-advantage for DirecTV. It wouldn't make any sense to do so & I promise you DirecTV would not stand for it.
I think it's hilarious that the DirecTV CSR's are suggesting that DirecTV negotiated an inferior contract than their competition.

I doubt it too..:) It has never made any sense to me at all! Don't you think it would be easier for Directv to only have to blackout 1 feed for me on a typical NHL Saturday night instead of maybe.....say...8-10?, not including the new HD feeds........

What some of you guys are not seeing is that D* never promised increased HD games for NHL CI this season. They said select games will be in HD and that is all. I am sure for future seasons they will improve their HD Hockey programming but for now they are still in the rollout phase of their new HD channels. Some of you are taking this a little too far. D* is not selling anyone short on what they promised. Find me one place where D* says they will offer every game available in HD to it's CI subscribers.

I subscribe to NBALP and to be honest with you I would like to get all my teams games in HD. But D* is not promising that so I am not really expecting it. Hopefully I get a pleasent surprise.

not to disagree with you totally, but how about getting the guide data correct, so when people return home expecting to see a game they recorded - they actually see the game they were expecting to record?

I'm on a roll here Clint....:) All fired up:mad: Maybe too much coffee,I don't know:grin:
    Let me pose another guestion...
If DirecTV is, by it's own declaration, "The HD Leader"....Would they allow Dish to maintain HD superiority contractually? The irony is that they have allowed it to play out in reality. Hopefully temporarily but we shall see.

I certainly do not want to speak for everyone, but for me, all I ask that is if the guide shows a game to be starting at 6:30(my time) then I expect to be watching the game no later than 6:31. I dont want to get screwed out of a period (like last night) because I chose to record the HD feed over the SD feed. I don't think that I am asking for too much.

I agree 100% on that issue. I too would be really upset if this was happening. This is definetly an issue to bring up with D* and maybe you can even get some credits on your account because of it.

I think you are mis-understanding what we are complaining about. We are getting blacked out of HD games & replays on games that DirecTV is already showing, not that we have unfair expectations of what DirecTV promised us.

True. Directv never promised increased Hd games this season, but I can see this scenario coming up soon....:just as an example:

    Redwing vs Sabres

Redwings feed from Fox Sports Detroit in HD
Sabres feed from MSG in SD

Directv decides that we should watch the Sabres feed from MSG in SD and the FOX Sports Detroit feed in HD is blacked out to the entire nation except for Detroit. Just because someone(and I wish I knew who)determines that the MSG feed should be the "main" feed to Center Ice Subcribers.

I should be able to watch either feed, just as Dish subscribers do for the same price.
