Weird for me!! 94 was ditto, but the sub-channels gave me error messages and the RSN's (636, etc.) were open and in HD!!! I have HD and CI, why no sub-channels?? Perhaps different setups for different parts of the country????

BTW, was in my HD hockey glory last night!!! 3 HD games to watch!! :D

Robert Mercer is the Director of Public Relations for Direct TV. His email is RGMercer@directv.com. I emailed him yesterday with some suggestions, including that someone at Directv needs to be reading this thread. Here is his response:

"David: Thanks for your comments. I'll pass them along to our Programming and Customer Service departments so they can look at how they can be better informed when talking to hockey fans. Robert"

Hope so because they do need to be better informed about what they are talking about.

    You do the math.

The cost for special equipment and decoders to broadcast TSN's HD feed (DIVIDED BY) The number of Directv NHL Center Ice subscribers and Directv's mega bucks = Happy Center Ice viewers watching games in HD at a minimal cost to Directv.

This equipment hang up is no excuse for not doing this.

Please Directv get this done along with whatever is needed to add Hockey Night in Canada's Saturday evenings games in HD.

What happened to the Devils-Rangers game that is supposed to be in HD tonight on channel 94?? It's been in the online guide for over a week and on the HR20's guide for about a week. Today, it shows a different game.

What gives? From my calls and emails to D*, they think they are carrying MSG HD and FSN NY HD, so why not offer the channel via NHL CI?

Do you know who called the game? I know Chris Cuthbert works for TSN and does quite a few games and I've always enjoyed listening to him. But in general, Canadian broadcasts are usually better than anything available here in the USA.

I agree that Rick Jeanneret is fun to listen to, but I'm not sure if he's the best. I look for an announcer to call the game as quickly as it happens, mentioning who has the puck right away. I'm not so sure if Rick is quick at doing this, or studies up on the opposing teams much, but he's probably up there with Hughson & Emrick.

As far as color announcers go, Peter McNab is the worst obnoxious homer on the planet. He is so bad that I have to mute the volume when watching the Avalanche play. Heck, even though I can barely tolerate Hayward & Terry Crisp (Nash), I'll still listen.

I just got the same exact response from TSN regarding this matter.

To express my opinion on the issue, like everyone else.

I was not saying I was against it, just the issue of more HD telecasts was a lot more important to me than having two feeds of the same game.

I don't recall who it was just remember it was more opinionated than a proper announcing of a game.

You can see that Dish is offering more dual feeds tonight compared to DirecTV.

I didn't include HDNet because its not a part of the Center Ice package.

I took a guess at a few DirecTV SD channels because DTV does not list 'em on their site.

As stated before, dual broadcasts in SD are hughly important when it comes to picture quality. IF all games were in HD, this would obviously be less important since HD picture quality seems to be a lot more consist than SD quality. If we're stuck with SD, we must have both feeds to insure a watchable picture.

+1 Agreed. HD feeds are MUCH more important than having duel feeds to me too.

HD feeds are important to me also, but if duals feed are not addressed now, this is going to have some influence on the amount of HD games telecast in the future..

    Example, this Saturday night:

Montreal vs. Pittsburgh....this game is not on the Directv schedule as an HD telecast becasue Directv is using the CBC feed for this game and NOT the Fox Sports Pittsburgh feed. The Fox Sports Feed is in HD on 628-1, so by not telecasting "dual feeds" no one (except the local Pittsburgh area) will get the HD feed.

Unless something changes (as of this moment DTV shows no dual feed of this game), this "non" dual feed issuse will effect all Center Ice Subscribers expect those in Pittsburgh.

Of course E* has this game in HD..

Like I said before, if this is such a problem for Directv, just #^&$^& open the RSN channels and let me find the game myself. Directv can figure out how to mirror the channels while I watch hockey...

I'm fighting for both sides here guys...HD and dual feeds. I just think the root of the problem is the dual feed issue. If that gets resolved then the HD will come..

How do you know DirecTV is taking the CBC Feed of the Montreal game. Yes, Hockey Night in Canada is doing that game but they are doing TWO games this weekend and DirecTV usually only takes one feed from them. They have the Toronto vs Rangers game listed on 768 at 7 PM and then Edmonton at LA at 10 PM. This makes me think that this will be the Hockey Night in Canada feed for tomorrow night.

Of course they are NOT showing the pregame show or After Hours.... for that you need Dish Network or cable...

From past experience over the last 5 years or so. Directv has always followed the schedule from indemand.com. The indemand schedule shows this telecast as CBC. I have seen numerous time "2" early game and "1" late game from the CBC on Center Ice with Directv.

I agree...E* is kicking D*'s dairy aire all over the ice with their better coverage of CI...as a Blues Fan in NV I'd live to hear Dan Kelly, Jr. and Berine call the game.

While I appreciate the need for the HD Feed for some, I'll be happy if there are two HNIC games tomorrow night. HNIC has been offering 2 games most Saturdays and so far at least DirecTV has only picked up one of them.... we shall see....

The Home Broadcaster issue is a big one for me too. I'm a Leafs fan and I had to endure a Florida Panther's broadcast this week which was played in Toronto and if the InDemand schedule referred to elsewhere on this string is right then the same thing is going to happen with the Washington game next week.

Until someone can demonstrate otherwise I remain convinced that DirecTV just didn't pay much attention to the NHL CI package until this year when we all started yelling. It is only with this yelling that we have managed to have nights when more than one feed is offered. We need to keep up the pressure.

It just seem to me that lately, they have been using more RSN and less Canadian feeds. Maybe it's just me.....

I agree and this is not a good trend. I mean why didn't they show the TSN feed of the Edmonton Colorado game this week. It was Ryan Smith's return to Edmonton and by showing the Colorado feed they lost out on the special tribute that the classy people in Edmonton put on for Mr. Smith.

If in fact the plan is to use more RSN's and less Canadian feeds this is BAD news for hockey fans.
