How come there are no HD games listed on the 700 -1 channels for tomorrow.... or anytime this week??? Every channel says "To Be Announced". There are 4 games in HD according to the HDSportsGuide...

The Kings vs Jackets game is listed on NHL Network... Hrmmm, will it be on Ch 215 in HD tomorrow???????

How am I supposed to record any games when they are not listed?????

EDIT -- I was posting the same time as cmasia above... however, none of those games are in the guide yet.

Well, same 'ol same 'ol -- the Wings vs Oilers game is not coming in on Ch 636HD (FSNHD)... but the SD feed is on both Ch 636 (SD) and Ch 765 (SD)...

Again, why is the Ch 636HD feed blacked out? It actually says "Not Available in Your Local Area".... Ummm why? I live in California

Which is 99.99% better than the blurry SD feed.

According to AVSForum, the NHL Network HD is now up for good on channel 215. I am at work now so I can't verify.

Here is the response I got today from CBC regarding HNIC in HD on DirecTV.

We appreciate your interest in CBC broadcasts of "Hockey Night In Canada."

As you mention, DirecTV picks up a standard definition satellite feed of hockey broadcasts. CBC presently operates off-air high
definition transmitters in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver. Given that HD distribution is limited to these four cities
rather than being country-wide, it's more economical for CBC to feed these locations by fibre optic cable as opposed to by
    satellite.

While the CBC HD feed is available to DirecTV at this time, it would be up to DirecTV to arrange for either a satellite uplink or
fibre link to its various technical facilities in the United States. It's unlikely that DirecTV is willing to shoulder these costs
in the face of what it may consider to be limited financial return.

Thank you for writing to CBC.

Interesting that this is the response, putting the responsibility directly on D*. Bold and I like it, but if this is true, this situation is unlikely to change in our interest!

If I can get CBC-HD here in Florida (and I do), then I am sure that DirecTV could get it as well -- from the same Anik satellite that they likely get CBC SD from. My guess is more along the lines of someone asking for more money than DirecTV (and Dish, for that matter) feels is worthwhile to carry the HD games.

Hope D* has some extra CSR staffing planned for tomorrow.

    1) Bruins are home on NESN Thursday night.

NESN is televising this game, like every Bruin home game, in HD.

    SD is on Channel 764.
The HD version does not appear on D*'s schedule on either channel or 764-1 or 94.

    2) Penguins are away at Colorado Thursday night.

FSN Pittsburgh is televising the game in HD.
Altitude is also producing this game in HD, but I realize it is not yet a national RSN.

SD is on Channels 770 and 771.
The HD version of FSN Pittsburgh does not appear on D*'s schedule on either channel 770-1 or 771-1. (94 is showing the Jackets - Ducks game at the same time)
Edit - Just saw this game will be on HD Net. Still, not all CI subs have access to this channel, correct?

Someone please remind me again why these RSN's were launched nationally in HD.

If the CBC HD signal is "in the air" and available from CBC I don't see any big problem in bringing it to Directv's much deserving hockey fans.

It can't cost that much to do.

Come on Directv be the leader in sports programing !

I think the distinction is that the CBC HD signal is not in the air from CBC, it is being uplinked separately by Starchoice and Expressvu and that is who DirecTV would have to deal with unless they did it themselves, which they are unlikely to do.
I would however think that since DirecTV uplinks local stations in HD and it is legal for cable companies to carry Canadian channels if they are available OTA that if there was an area where they could pull say the Toronto CBC HD feed down OTA they could uplink that like they do the local channels, especially since it seems to be OK with CBC.
