Yes, I know, but like I said, he's dead! We need a live Don!
I tried setting The Proposal to record and it did the exact same thing that happened with you. No matter how many times I would delete it from my Playlist, it would always come back when I would try to set it for recording from the Guide. It will not let you record it from the Guide and will keep populating in the Playlist from VOD.
It didn't give you an option to watch via VOD or record the program when it airs? That's what it did for me and I hit record instead of VOD.
Nope, just tried it, too.
No, my only choice was to watch the VOD one, and no recording options at all. I even tried to set it to record a few days from now on the Guide. When I hit record, it did the same thing, saying it was in my Playlist from VOD with the choice to watch it or click on Ok. Strangest part is I never downloaded it from VOD, and if I delete it from my playlist, it will reappear again if I try to record it from the Guide.
The only successful work-around I have found is to setup a Manual Record for the channel and time of the HD showing you want.
A real pain in the ass.
Yeah, that doesn't work either. Tried it multiple times today, I keep getting the non-HD on demand version. I'll try the manual recording, forgot about that option. Thanks for the (pain in the a$$) tip!
Something else that I just tried, it started playing on Starz West in HD. Tuned to the channel, hit record, and that worked too. Pain in the a$$ #2...
it would be a great feature if Starz VOD was in HD
I'm trying to schedule the HD recording of this movie too, but the DVR won't let me because D* fed me the SD version from Starz VOD (in SD). It doesn't show up in my playlist so I'm unable to delete it......it just pops up in the search and shows with a green checkmark every time I try to search/schedule it's recording.
I'd dearly love to record the HD version when it plays tonight at 1AM, so I can watch it in HD tomorrow morning when I get up........
Sounds like some kind of bug issue. Maybe a software bug.. I would force a download and have the box reinstall the current software in the stream. You could also try a resend signal to your receiver and see if that fixes it.
It is a bug that multiple people have documented in the last week or so. Forcing a download or refreshing your services is not going to resolve the issue. Hopefully, DirecTV is now aware of the issue and is working on a resolution.
Set a manual recording for now.
Hey, Thanks for everyone's feedback. I thought it was something I was doing wrong, but now agree it is a bug/unintended programming consequence. I just hope it is something they will fix and not something they intended as a "feature".
You can also go to m.directv.com and record from there. I believe that is easier than a manual record.
had the exact same problem with the exact same move. that "very nice" feature sucks, theres no way to record a HD movie if its ondemand (only in SD).
Sure you can, set up a manual recording.
Any update ?
Werent we supposed to get this last November.
