I think at one point you could get a $295 burger, with a $1,000 sundae for dessert. Looking at the place's menu now, seems the burger is no longer offered, but the sundae is.

Twice as tasty as an eight dollar one....:hurah:

Heard this weekend Coach Jim Harbaugh say of one of his players, "He's tougher than a two dollar steak."

Haven't eaten in NYC in a long time. Far too expensive. Lots of good, fairly priced places in the Village and SoHo and Chinatown, tho. I actually stopped in a burger place near Times Square several years ago and that's where I saw the $16 burger. Place was packed. Got out of there quickly. Rather eat at a street vendor's cart.

Hard to believe, isn't it? Undoubtedly true, tho. Some of their prices are insane. People must buy them, tho.

I have seen burgers for that much here. In upscale restaurants.

I grew up eating chuck steaks on very rare occasions. Thought people that raved about steaks were nuts. Then, one fine day, I had a filet mignon. What a shock!

I used to service one of the Ritz Carleton condominiums that offered the "luxury" of being internally connected to the Ritz Carleton Hotel, enabling the nouveau riche to have their evening burger and fries rolled to them by a garson and served on a silver platter for $100. After a few months, the novelty of puttin' on the Ritz wore off and most of the residents now walk across the street to buy $3.50 subs from the EXXon convenience store.

    I did @ Hamburger Harry's. :)

Used to go every year for a weekend to see whatever broadway show was "hot". Haven't been since '03? It was the last year Matthew Broderick was in The Producers.

Not to be advertising but better than a $16 Burger.

Joes Meat market Deli & Pizzeria S. Bound Brook. Their OMG burger $10, 4 1/4 lb'ers, American, Swiss, Provolone Cheese, Bacon, Lettuce, Onions, Special Sauce on a Garlic Texas Toast and Fries. Enough to feed 3 or 4 people. They deliver to Green Brook, I'll bet they deliver to your town too. I ordered one for work. Enough for three days lunches.

Not to mention their BLT Club burger 1/2 Lb'er for $7.

Or CheeBurger Cheeburger in Green Brook has a 20 Oz burger.

    Anyone remember this one?
    Cheers

I think that's the name of the place I quickly retreated from. Near Times Square? Did you eat one of them? How was it?

I live very close to Joe's. It is a place you really have to see to believe.
The subs and everything is super sized and good. You can get at least two meals out of any sub. For those who watch their weight it is rather overwhelming. We had to ween ourselves away from that place a couple years ago.

Just goes to show how much folks in NYC make. The prices never cease to amaze me. And most restaurants are packed.

Sounds Like the Flame Steak on 42nd I used to go to when I went to a broadway play. Inexpensive, Nice sized potato & steak w/ Garlic bread. You Could see them flame broiling through the window from the street. I used to get one every time I was in the City.

I haven't seen it, Yet. Good food, good prices, good portions and they'll deliver. Does it get better?

Yeah I'm near there too from home. I was amazed they deliver to green brook however. I guess it isn't really that far if you cross the bridge from So. BB and come out to the highway at the overpass west of Strike and Spare lanes.

    Best Regards
    Roger

I really think it's a bit too good. We started going over the river damn near every day and we just kept eating more and more. Their cheese steak subs are really good. I ate a whole sub one day and thought I was gonna die that night.

Huh. Didn't realize we lived that close to each other. I don't remember them delivering, but that would have made it even worse. That place is addictive. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it...

I wonder about the restaurants who sell bottles instead of fountain drinks... Can they still sell the 20 and 24 oz bottled sodas? Or do they have to only sell 16 oz?
