Having looked at the program guide for MGM HD at Zap2It (it appears on Directv's listings as of Wednesday), I have to say I'm very unimpressed. With as many movies as they supposedly have in their library, they didn't exactly come up with many really good titles for their launch. It gets better in the second week as they start the James Bond films on Friday, October 19th.

    This link should work:

I'd like to see some clarification on that. DirecTv has had it in their plans to bring Speed HD up this October, can they be that far off? I have a feeling that Speed may be going full blown HD in February but they will be in upconvert mode until then. Either way, I'll be happy whenever it shows. The sooner the better. ;)

Since D* keeps dropping the ball and not spot beaming FSN College Football games to Dallas and the Longhorns are on FSN this Saturday, FSN Southwest. Hook 'Em Horns!

I'm hoping for Food-HD and HGTV-HD myself (for the wife)

On a better note - I would love to see 11 national HD channels so they can trump Dish!

I want more HBO/MAX/SHO channels. Unfortuantely they have done much of those backwards... rolling out the west coast feeds before the other ones that are more than just the same programming delayed 3 hours. The west coast mirrors should be the LAST ones added, not the first set of "the new ones".

jburroughs - not to single you out specifically because there are others who want ESPN/2 in MPEG4, but why, given they are already in HD in MPEG2? To save space on the DVR? Quality - sounds debatable given the inconclusive test with the TBS HD baseball games.

    Just curious...

Quality is my main priority. Unfortunately, with fast moving sports any degradation or reduction of the signal really shows up. I can see a huge difference with TBS baseball games and Big Ten Network telecasts and current ESPN sports.

I'm going to mix it up a little bit. I hope HGTV HD is added for my wife. Cartoon Network HD is added for my kids. And for me, I'd really like to see MGM HD. I was doing some reading up on this channel. They're going to be pulling from their extensive movie library of over 4,100 titles.

Here is a link to an older article on MGM HD from last month.

Same here. And I find that the difference is perceptible comparing the TBS games on 95 vs. 247.
