I change my programming from Choice Xtra Classic to just Xtra (actually was a $1 cheaper) and I now have Olympic Channel.

Do you still have Hallmark movies and Mysteries? I was planning on doing the same thing, but when I looked at the channel list it did not show this channel. Of course it is not listed on Choice Xtra Classic and it works just fine.

I have had Xtra for years. If you are talking about channel 565, No, I do not get that.
There is a Hallmark Channel, I believe it is 312 that I get.

I have grandfathered Choice Xtra Classic. The DirecTV website in multiple channel lineups says that I should get it, but chat rep said no, it's not included in my plan. They tried to get me to switch to current Xtra. When I asked what the differences were, the rep said:

Annoys me that they don't have this together. Apparently they're getting a lot of complaints, the rep said.

i was told that the channel was "having a problem" and that the tech people were working on it. .this is what I was told in chat yesterday.. obvioiusly an out and out lie.. the CSR person seemed to have no true idea about this channel and who does and does not get it. .

The "having a problem" is that it's being greyed out for people with Xtra so it doesn't show up for people who select "Channels I Get" instead of "All Channels". That's not a lie at all as Jimmie57 and mpie314 confirmed it. (It also wasn't isolated to the Olympic Channel, last week there was problems with TV Land HD for some packages, and Fusion, there's a whole thread about it)

As for the package placement, I already posted what packages it's in on the previous page. It is NOT in Choice Xtra Classic or Sports Pack. It's only available with Xtra, Ultimate and Premiere.

Also, the CSR that greg99 was talking to was not talking out of their ass, there's a bug in the agent answer center lineups involving some of the channels paying to be carried like Celebrity Shopping, Mercury Media, Look, MavTV and some others in the grandfathered packages, so they show up as channels you gain in the comparison tool when you compare a grandfathered package like Choice Xtra Classic to a current package like Xtra:

It appears Hallmark movies and mysteries is in the HD Extra Pack. The online package comparison tool seems a bit messed up.

Honestly, between this and their continued unwillingness to get a carriage agreement with Pac-12 Network, I'm just about to toss >17 years of DirecTV subscribership in the trash and switch to Comcast. Plus, I'll save about $75/month, since I already get my internet from Xfinity.

I don't claim to understand the reasons for these contracts. But, I am also in Choice Extra Classic and am not wanting to move up a package level while losing anything I receive in Choice Extra Classic. (I am not in the habit of remembering the names of these programming packages; so I can't get more specific.)

    Understood.

I am in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan.

I was at my sibling's residence a couple days ago and explored the channel lineup. What is keeping me from making the switch is that I get more from AT&T's DirecTV that I would not from Comcast xfinity. AT&T's DirecTV having recently added Sprout HD is one example of catching a programmer available on Comcast xfinity.

I get my telecommunications services from AT&T DirecTV (television), Comcast (Internet), and Verizon (phone). All are really good. But, none of them cannot be improved.

I have Xtra and tried a RBR and the Olympic Channel still doesn't show up as a channel I get on the guide

Choose All Channels and then tune to the channel. Then add it to your Favorites list.

I don't use a favorites list because something could catch my eye on a channel I don't usually tune to I normally just use the channels I get favorite

Go to the Favorites, create a favorite. Choose to check All Channels I get. It will select them all for you. Jump down to 624 and check it. Give it a name. Now you have All channels I get plus the 624.

The only thing I use "favorites" for is to eliminate the home shopping garbage, the click here to subscribe to porn or season sports, and a few channels I don't ever want to watch (Logo and Free Speech TV). By doing that you can unclutter your guide greatly, without missing anything.

I also made a second one. It is called Movies. It eliminates any channel that does not show movies, at least once in awhile. My HD Favorite has 104 channels in it, the Movies only has 57. I skim thru the Movie one every day and see what I want to record, then switch back to the HD one. Saves a lot of time.

Unfortunately what i think is missing or I missed it are announcements of new channels. Without threads such as this how do you know without going through all occasionally. What Uverse used to do - been away 3 years - is add new to your favorites. This was bad bad bad since 99.99% were infomercials and sometimes they add more than once a day so you'd just clean out on each tv and then had to do again. Wish there was an info channel where you could see adds

I agree with that. DirecTV is inconsistent about new channel news. How hard would it be to take a channel, say 100 and just put up cards with channel line up change information such as:

"Channel 624 is the new Olympics Channel", it was added July 15th." or "Sprout has been changed to an HD channel". It would take up little bandwidth
