I confess that it has been many months since I popped back into this site (or just a out any other such site on the Web). Other things have stolen my time, I guess.

That being said, I decided to seek out the experts here because I'm baffled by a problem that began at least a month ago, if not earlier. Simply put, I lost ALL of my OTA channels on my two HD DVRs that were connected to an AM21. Each DVR is an HR24. Both DVRs check out OK; it's just that I get this nag on the screen on ALL my sub-channels:

    771 - Signal loss on the off-air tuner... (792)

I haven't don't anything to disrupt the signal—nothing moved or disconnected, no connections altered, etc. This just popped up on every single one of channels. Even a rescan did nothing to help fix the problem. It made me wonder if they killed the AM21. Did they do something to render that thing or anything else useless or inoperable?

It's as if the OTA channels were all just unilaterally discontinued or something.

    Any thoughts?

According 100s posts here last month, OTA does working, exclude some local glitches.
See other threads like "LCC", perhaps it's time to discard your old failed AM21 boxes ?

Lots of people here reporting continued use of AM21s.

I recall from a long time ago, at least with the old HR20, that when re-doing the OTA setup one had to actually type in the zip code again, not just accept the one carried over from previous settings. Don't know if that is the case with the AM21, but worth a try. Please report back.

I am using an AM-21 with no problems. It has picked up 110 OTA channels in my market area.

A big time update of the OTA Database today, with 36 DMA's which have not been updated for over 9 years finally getting fresh, updated data.

Only 10 DMAs left to be updated, they will probably get those with the next update.

They are quite obviously updating them all. They've even done some of the dozen they don't have carry on satellite. You really think they are going to stop with so few left? Why are you always so contrary? It is as if you enjoy making pointless posts just to increase your post count.

With this update I went forward and re-scanned my 2 DMA's on the HR-54 (AM-21) and the program titles are now coming in for the sub-channels previously reading "Regular Schedule".

However, a 3rd DMA which the scanning is picking up is showing those DMA stations still with "Regular Schedule" and no program titles. And this 3rd DMA is included in the OTA database.

Does DTV's OTA software not allow more than 2 DMA's from being able to get program titles when they get scanned in automatically on the HR-54 ?

I was informed if the station is listed as a class A , low power transmitter, those will NOT be updated.

The 3rd DMA stations getting scanned in are all full-power stations, long-time NBC and ABC affiliates in Naples-Ft. Myers (FL) DMA.

I still use an AM-21, otherwise couldn't record sub-channels. Is there a new receiver that includes an OTA tuner? If not, I'll use the AM-21 as long as I can.

Negative. And my AM-2x’s still running strong on ALL my HR’s.

in zipcode 36695 - Mobile,AL /Pensacola, FL DMA. 10-1 is showing as 10-1 Alerts(back when there was a dispute last year with dtv promise) instead of WALA FOX10. It would be nice to get this fix so we could pull up all OTA with LLC in case of future disputes and when there are reception issues.

When they did this before I thought someone said hitting channel up or channel down (can't remember which) would leave the 10-1 "alerts" screen and go to the actual 10-1 channel.

Why they think they need to put up the alert and screw with people who have OTA I have no idea. That was dumb idea when they first did it a couple years ago, and it is still a dumb idea today.

Zip code 32601 - Gainesville, FL DMA. Incorrect Program Guide Listings for WCJB DT3 - 20.3 in LCC database. Guide listings should be for MeTv Network programming, NOT for a Spanish language channel.

Does anybody know what will happen when the repack begins?
Here in NE Ohio, I believe the first phase starts Aug. 3.
Will the equipment (AM21, LCC) be updated for the signal changes?

Not automatically. You'll need to do a simple re-scan. You should do that monthly until this phase is over anyway.

You probably need to do a rescan more often than monthly, because individual stations can make their changes anytime during the window (and in some cases, before the window if it won't interfere with any neighboring stations)
