Does activating an *OWNED* receiver (Yes, actually owned) start a new programming commitment? Only leased receivers do right?

Make sure you activate it with the access card department. It isn't supposed to but it can, unofficially that is.

If a front line CSR does it, they can only add it as leased, and that changes the commitment date. The card department then swaps it to owned and makes a note that the committment extension was an error, but just save yourself the hassle and go staight for the ACDT.

Also note that if you call the automated number that comes with the card, and it transfers you to a live person, make sure they are in the ACDT so you don't go through what I just described.

Like Matt said the KEY is to get the receiver activated by the card access dept NOT a front line csr.
