Well first football games are tonight. Arizona plays so I subscribed my Dish Network account for Pac12 network. If it does come to Directv I'll cancel and pay the $5 early cancellation fee. Directv has the better picture quality on my 70". Nothing showing up on guide at 7am CDT.

Pure speculation, but maybe the agreement becomes "active" sometime today after an announcement is made. This would allow Pac-12, DIRECTV or both to bask in the glow of victory and the magic switch is pushed before the first game tonight.

The fact that DirecTV has publicly admitted that they are "working on it" (which is quite frankly the first time they have publicly stated something this encouraging about adding Pac 12 Network), is a good sign that the deal is getting closer. I know the last tipping point that is being negotiated was the price alignment on in vs. out of market rates, as AT&T/DirecTV wants the most feasible price for them to take this on. Hopefully DirecTV's public acknowledgement is a sign that the two sides are making that much more progress on resolving what appears to be the deal breaker at this point for both sides. That tweet from DirecTV is a good sign that there is not lost hope or a tough gridlock to break through soon. The odds are quite high now that DirecTV will have Pac 12 Network live at some point during the early part of the football season. The question is, when? Saturday? By next weekend? Or do they pull off an 11th hour agreement somehow by this evening? That won't happen too soon unless someone blinks at the last second, so don't expect that unless the Pac 12 caves in on the last thing they are negotiating over, because AT&T/DirecTV is not going to cave in for tonight's college football action. Tonight is more important for the Pac 12 than it is for AT&T/DirecTV, so if any last minute caving happens today, it would be the Pac 12.

Dang, was wanting it to be up for tonight's game but guessing (hoping) it will go "live" on Saturday.

@wilnerhotline: I'd guess 65-70% chance Pac12Nets/DTV deal done today, 80-85% done by Saturday.

No wonder this deal is taking so long because it isn't just about DirecTv, it is about reworking the U-Verse deal and sponsorship at each school.

@wilnerhotline: And if Pac12Nets-DTV deal gets done, it will be sweeping, involve multiple levels of ATT infrastructure and all 12 campuses somehow

It sounds like they are making this too difficult ... although that seems to be typical with carriage contracts. So much that does not directly relate to getting the channel on the air is wrapped in to the contracts.

PAC12 claims that ATT is there biggest partner, but maybe ATT defines "partner" differently than PAC12 does.....

I've read several places that it's most likely to be like Longhorn. You get it as part of Extra if you're in the P12 footprint, but sports pack if you're elsewhere. But it's all speculation at this point. Wilner, who really has done a great job covering this the past few years, says that both sides of the negotiating table have been very tight lipped about what's happening.

Hasn't this been the issue all along. Sports pac cost an extra $15 a month and viewership won't be great with only the PAC-12 areas getting it included. I for one would never pay extra for the sports package just for the longhorn network, Big10, SEC if they were only available with the sports pack. But would and will for the pac-12 because of preference. I think they (pac12) want network available just like the SEC and Big10.

I like Sports Pack during college football and basketball seasons extra games on the RSNs. Especially now since the ESPN College Extra is included with sports pack, hoping that the channels are HD though. I like it for Bein Sports too during the European professional soccer season too.

If you add it online yourself looks like it is reduced to $11/month, I'm sure you could possibly call to get reduced more.

Makes sense for P12 exposure to get it on a package like B1G and SEC, LHN is basically an RSN anyway so makes sense that that is on SP or available in TX.

How could it be just about DIRECTV? It's a brave new AT&T | DIRECTV world.

Just got a Google alert on "DTV/Pac 12 Network" and Kansas City Star lists tonight's Arizona vs. Texas (SA) on at 9 PM on the west coast on DTV Channel 671-1. Is this legit????????

671 is Fox Sports Midwest. Perhaps you meant 612-1? That would be a repeat, as well. The game starts a few hours earlier.
