There is a whole lot of content shifting going on.
Yes, content from my wallet to the absurd Cable/Sat bank accounts is shifting at a record pace

Four times more than what? Four times more than Speed? I'll watch this four times more than I watched Speed, so I would understand an increase. Actually, I never watched Speed.

The numbers I saw were $.23 per sub for Speed and $.80 per sub for FS1, which is about 3.5 times as much.

And yes, I'm totally with you on the value of FS1. Much more valuable than Speed IMO.

Started preparing for college football season this morning...

First call was to DTV rentention dept. I explained that I needed the Pac12 channel and asked for a discount on my $150/month bill so that I could help cover the cost of adding Comcast. I was offered $10 off per month for 2 years plus Red Zone channel stand alone - no contract extension required. Sounded fair, so I took that deal.

Second call was to Comcast. I use them for internet only and was told my bill would increase by $40/month for package that included Pac12 channel + sports pack. Supposedly, the sports pack is needed for Fox Sports 1? So I opted for that. I figured I could cancel the sports pack should DTV get a deal done with FS1.

    Go Ducks.

Good work. We may be at the end of single provider and everyone needs to make deals as well as they can. There are few things that we have a single source for. TV may no longer be one. And if your bill stays about the same with more than one, no big deal.

Kudos to you for your choices.

Refreshing to see someone with the willingness to actually do something about gaining access to the PAC 12 Nets, versus the incessant whining of the "Usual Suspects".

Just switch to Dish and get P12N, then get MLB.tv and Sunday Ticket online or on PS3 if you want them. DirecTV is a joke anymore. Good on people for picking up better providers.

    Have you dumped DirecTV yet?

BTW, streaming sports is still not good enough, even if you could get Sunday Ticket without DirecTV, which you cannot.

I am thinking you got upsold. I doubt FS1 is in the sports pack. Go to Comcast's website and look at their channel lineup.

FS 1 is not available on any system until next Saturday. Speed is in "Digital Starter" in my market (the same level as Comcast Sports Net Chicago). Fox Sports 1 is not listed.

Speed used to be in sports pack for most Chicago area Comcast systems. (it just moved likely to get ready for FS1)

I know we're not privvy to the contracts that Pac12 has with other providers, but would they really be so dense in their negotiation of those contracts that if they were to give in to DirecTV's demands (for a lower price, if you believe Pac12) that they would then have to give that same deal to the other providers? Seriously?

It seems to me that, given DirecTVs having 6 million more customers than Dish, they should get a bit of a sweeter deal. Buying in bulk warrants it, right?
