DIRECTV's attempt at "polishing a turd"?
I think we need a few more comments on why people don't like PPV/D*Cinema
Ok, I'll start. I don't like D* PPV because... just kidding.
How about DirecTV Multiplex Cinema or DirecTV CinePlex? to imply multiple movies going at the same time?
Why not?.In More Info it says "In the future you will need a High Speed Internet connection to access PPV with the remote control".So that means no easy access to order PPV by remote with the phone line anymore(781),Oops! DirecTV Cinema.
So you will have to order DirecTV Cinema from www.directv.com or call DirecTV and pay the phone line order fee.
Because there's been numerous threads on why people don't like/don't use PPV, and frankly it's been beaten to death. This thread is supposed to be about the renaming of it.
I don't use PPV either (for most of the reasons mentioned), but that doesn't mean I have to chime in on every thread related to it and rehash the points that have already been made ad nauseum. Sometimes things just need to be given a rest.
Nah, lets have a few more comments praising how wonderful the name change is.
Umm, the name change is what the thread's about. If you don't like the name, express your opinion on the matter. But, since according the the first post, nothing else is changing, why continue to comment on other things about this feature that have been beaten to death.
And part of the discussion is how the heavy handed policies did not change while the name did.
The shudda called it Pay Per Brrrripppp ? Yea, I know, no brrriiipppping on PPV, I mean DirecTV Cinema ... was just kidding.
You think D* is going to lift the 24 hour rule? Or lower the price?
Seriously, other than complaining for the sake of complaining, what's the point?
Oh joy...another reason for Directv to add more PPV Channels. /yawn
ok....i dont like that basically movies start on 15 minute intervals....i would like some to start at oh lets say 9:23pm.
OK! Sounds good! Name Change?Good!
There's still one hair on that horse!.:beatdeadhorse:
Au contraire! We ordered a movie the other day and heard the loudest brrrrippp we've ever heard on D*. It was during the end credits, so no big deal, but it can still happen on pay per view....I mean....cinema.
Awesome name, terms not so.
D* could just do the 24 hour limt on the movies that specifically required it. That is what other providers do but, I guess they just don't care. I would go a long way toward makiing people understand it is a studio thing and not a D* thing because, on some of the movies laziness is the only reason that they have a 24 hour limit.
As far as I know, per the agreements with the content providers, the 24 hour rule exists in every case.
It always amazes me how even the mega huge companies with all the "Brain's" behind them still make the same mistakes that the Mom and Pop businesses make!
Take your Mom and Pop restaurant that is not doing so well, they start to change things around grasping at a solution to increase business, they offer free soup, free deserts, they change the opening hours, bigger signs, etc. they do everything but change the lousy food which is why the people don't come in the first place. (Example taken from numerous episodes of Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares)
Directv is exactly the same, they are changing the name, because the "Pay" in “Pay Per View”, they figure is frightening away people!
HELLO DIRECTV :bonk1: it's not the name PPV thats the problem, it's the high prices and short viewing time that is keeping people away!
