I had mentioned in the forum in the past that I wished D* would expand the number of payments for MLBEI and they did  It is now 6 payments instead of 4:hurah:

I saw the 6-payment offer too. It was on my last statement as there was no charge yet but it mentioned that it was upcoming. I think it said something like $31.99 X 6.

A HA ... here it is ... in the text above the bill breakdown:

IMPORTANT RENEWAL NOTICE: You are all set to enjoy another exciting season of MLB EXTRA INNINGSĀ®. We are renewing you at the lowest price of 6 payments of $31.99/month. The first charge will appear on your February or March bill. Seasonal sports packages are not refundable after the season starts.

$191.94 this year, $179 last year. $12.94 increase. Same blackouts.

Did you expect any different? The Fox and ESPN contracts have not been altered or renegotiated. If you want the package and you understand the blackouts, then get it. If not, don't.

See, this is where you're wrong...it may be MORE blackouts, if the Fox night telecasts black out all Saturday EI games.

I could speculate, but was just relaying the info I received from mlb.tv. See, for me, the Cardinals are blacked out on mlb.tv as well as Extra Innings, but if I subscribe to the sports pak AND Extra Innings, then I can watch them on the RSN, but if I dont subscribe to EI, then the RSN is also blacked out. I dont understand it at all.

Find myself unemployed right now, but my son has offered to pay for the MLB-EI package this year. Since I've been on the renewal plan for a while now, does anyone know if DirecTV will let you pay the renwal price as a one-time payment? I don't want to pay them the season amount and they just add it as a credit and still end up with a monthly charge a couple of months from now? I just want to call and say, renew my Extra Innings right now and here is my credit card number, is this rocking the boat too much for their setup of payment?

i wouldn't think so. worse case is you could over-pay the full MLB EI amount right now to your account and you just take is a credit on your account for the next 6 months. you'll just need to keep a close eye on it, because DirecTV may have sneaky hands :)

I called and made a one time payment on my parents account for NFL ST for them as a Christmas present, and DirecTv used their current renewal price (I just had to provide DirecTv with my parents account number).

If you're really concerned with the price of MLB and simply can't afford it (my case), you might be pleasantly surprised when you call to cancel the automatic renewal. If you've been a "loyal customer," however that's determined, you might change your mind.

On the other hand, as always, be prepared to cancel if that's what you tell them. I realize that's not specific info, but that's all I'm willing to say.

What a minute here.....it's cheaper to spread out the payment over 6 months?
I'd save $8.02 by paying over 6 instead of 4??

    Auto-Renewal rate is $31.99 for 6 months.

I'd guess the new sub rate is $33.33 for a $199.94 total if they let you do 6 payments instead of 4?

I just checked online - it's $49.99 for 4 payments or $199.96 for 1 payment (this must have just come up as I've checked the page several times and until now it said it was out of season).
