Philly HDs not coming in (signal strengths posted)

    the 119 is a tree issue so you can ignore that.

    But until this morning, all the local HD was fine, was actually on live tv then all of a sudden started pixeling and just smearing all over the place. reboot didnt help and the wires run right from the dish to the receivers.

    Strangely 12 and 17 are ok but 3 6 10 57 are not ok. So i'm hoping that may tell you something to help diagnose this?

    Last time i had any strength issues no one knew exactly which xponders were which channels...is this still the case?

    I'm in the Philly market, and am having the same problem with the HD locals this morning. They are pixelating so much they are impossible to watch.

    It seems that the affected ones all come from xponder 15 on 103s, but it does like you have decent signal on that one.

    Those are on xponder 23.

    Check any outside connectors etc.

    good to know i have company at least :) Hopefully it's a DTV issue and not a dish issue. The OTA comes in OK on my hdtivo so i know it's not a station issue. But i need the hr20 to get 6 in HD

    Where did you get that information regarding what channel is on what xponder?

    I've been having this same problem this morning. It's looking like it's a DirecTV problem at their end if others are having the same problems in the area. If it doesn't clear up within the hour I'll be making a call to DirecTV.

    BTW I'm getting a 96% signal on 103(s) transponder 15

    I also wanted to add that I am also having the same problem in the Philly market (zip 19348)

    Signal strengths seem fine, but the HD locals were pixelating and sound was coming in & out.

    Glad to see others having the same problem and it's likely not me. Hopefully DTV will resolve on their side soon.

    I had the same problem - fine until about 7:15, then it went nuts. Called after checking that it wasn't just me. Very painful to get to a tech without agreeing to reset your receiver. Took two calls to get to the techs. They said they'd look into it. I don't think they had a clue about the problem.

    Funny thing.. I am trying to watch the Philly stations OTA and only get 771 on many of them. For example, I get a signal on 10.2, but only get the 771 message on 10.1. I also get 771 on my local channel 8.1 but can watch 8.2 no problem. These all come in fine thru the TV's tuner.

    Try re-doing your OTA setup. Also try refreshing your services on the directv site. Might be having a little guide hiccup that will clear with that.

    I re-did the OTA setup from scratch and also re-did my services via the D* website. Both to no avail. Weird that this is happening.. why on some channels and not on other channels (from the same TV signal).

    anyone having problems over the weekend..i had trouble with 6 last night and now 29..probably the other stations but i am not watching them..

    reboot didnt fix anything

    it's not even like pixelating, it's more ghosting..like a character's shadow freezes on the screen then a second later it stutters forward

    I am having the same problems.
    rebooting didn't help.
    Signals are all good, low 90's
    HR20-700 receiver locks up then has to be rebooted, then it starts
    all over again.

    ok 'good' you are lol. I know it just cant be me but needed confirmation. I have no known lock ups nor reboots thankfully though. I wish they would figure this out since it's obviously a widespread problem.

    I am having issues as well, stuttering, pixelation. However for sometime now I have had 772 issues on clear days and have frequently gotten the "cannot reveive guide date warnings etc..."

    I called support and after more troubleshooting (swapping B-Bands, reboots etc) they are sending a technician out tomorrow)

    The "cannot receive guide data" warning is almost certainly because you have poor 119 signals. Only two solutions, get decent 119 signals by relocation the dish, or swap the SL5 LNB in your dish (I assume you have a Slimnline) for an SL3 LNB. The SL3 "fakes out" the receiver by sending the 101 guide data instead of 119 data.
    If the tech tells you that you can solve this problem just by setting your dish type in satellite setup to SL3, you can't, it's an installer "urban legend". The SL3 is electrically different from the SL5. If you have an SL5 and tell the receiver you have an SL3, 110/119 will disappear but the receiver is still expecting 119 guide data when it is tuned to a channel on 103, and it won't be there.

    OK I think the dish shoud be in good position there are no obstructions (unless the dish got tilted somewhow). I want to make sure I understand (I am still learning the language...) I do have an SL5 Slimline. If it has a bad Low Noise Block (LNB) Converter it would be best to swich to a SL3 LNB. Is that a whole new dish or is the LNB a box that get's attached to the Dish?

    Any clarification would be great.

    An SL3 is just the LNB or the "Head" part of the dish. It's an easy swap out (as long as the dish is easy to reach).

    Thank you I will update the thread shortly the technician is due here within the hour...

    The technician did some troubshooting and found it was a bad port on the multiswitch. It was replaced and all seems well at this time.
