Wow, you guys are picky, I’ve liked them all, well some more than others, except the last one ... Beyond? Probably should watch it again, felt very stiff In the theatre, over acted.

Life is full of imperfections, so I have chosen to recognize only the following:
    • "The Original Series" (1966–69): set in 2260's
    • "The Next Generation" (1987–94); set in 2364–2370
    • "Deep Space Nine" (1993–99); set in 2369–2375
    • "Voyager" (1995–2001); set in 2371–2378
    • "Discovery" (2017–present); set in 2250's
I watched "Enterprise" (2001–05); set in 2150's. But for me something was slightly off about the series.

Whether "Discovery" will stay on my list depends on where "no man has gone before" ends up in the writer's minds. It should end up in the "The Original Series" timeline, albeit with updated special effects technology.

I don't recognize the movies or any other variation outside that list as legitimate.

    Very well put.

Multi-generational series change with their times, but must remain true to their core values. Lets make an analogy to the other great multi-generational series. Bond.

Say some producer want to make a movie about a gay spy who is in a deeply committed monogamous relationship who eschews guns and gadgets in favor of talking out ones feelings about international disputes and is mixed on his commitment to the British governemnt and western values. He mostly drinks Grande Vente Mocha coffees, never touches alcohol. Drives a 12 year old Vauxhall.

No studio would produce such a thing. But, hey, says the producer, lets say its a Bond film. This is "Kelvn timeline Bond" or "Bond for out time". The reflected glow of Bond gets it by for a shot or two, but eventually the well is so poisoned by the this, the franchise is ruined.

Is Dr. No and Sean Connery the same as Brosnan and Golden Eye and is that the same as Craig and Spectre? But it is still Bond.

What CBS and Paramount is doing is just not Star Trek. The next gimmick to try to revive is, to continue the analogy, seems to be bringing back Sean Connery. Who is 87.

A better idea would be to make Star Trek episodes and films.

From an old list of, "Why we like Kirk more than Picard":

When Picard has a problem, he discusses it with Guinan. When Kirk has a problem, he shoots it.

Bond HAS to be a womanizer. Timothy Dalton's version just didn't fly. Brosnan saved the franchise by bringing that back.

"The name is Bond. (pause) James Bond."

Yeah, I get that. I was surprised when I found out Isaacs was gonna be a ST captain. I've seen him in many roles and a captain of a starship seemed odd. I guess the simplest way I can put it is I did not enjoy what he brought to the role. Just an opinion.

I did not like Enterprise. Not a Scott Bakula fan. Wasn't thrilled with Deep Space Nine or Voyager (liked Seven of Nine tho). Really enjoyed TNG, especially the Borg episodes. I've seen all the movies and enjoyed most of them.

I liked Brosnan as Bond. But I like most movies Brosnan does. Thought Dalton was a terrible actor and then saw him in Penny Dreadful and changed that opinion quickly.
