I currently have internet and IPTV service via a local fiber provider (Surewest). While the internet part is great, I'm very disappointed in the picture quality for standard-def channels on a 46" 1080p LCD (Samsung LNT4665F). I'm considering switching to either DirecTV or DishNet but I'm worried it may not make a difference.

While HDTV is very nice, most of the interesting content is still on the std-def channels for now (unfortunately), so I have to make sure what I watch most looks as good as possible.

Can you please comment on the picture quality for std-def channels for DirectTV and DishNet? Which one is better between the two and what can I expect in terms of picture quality on a 46" LCD?

    thanks for your help
