    My setup:

    3 receivers:

    1 H23-600 HD Receiver, 1 Standard D12-100 and 1 HDDVR HR21-100.

    My problem or question:

My signal strength numbers for the H23-600 and the D12-100 are all good to great. According to the strength meters on the H23 receiver, the 101 numbers are all in the 90's, 110,119 in the 90's and more importantly the numbers on 99c and 103c are in the mid to upper 80's. I get a good picture with very few 771's except for heavy rain. Same with the D12 receiver, 101, 110, 119 all in the 90's.

The HR21 HDDVR I have is a different numbers story. Although I don't get many 771 messages either, I have much, much lower numbers by the strength meter on this receiver. 101 runs in the low to mid 80's, 119 in the mid 80's and 99c and 103c in the mid to upper 70's on both tuners.

The longer cable runs by far are the two non DVR receivers with close to 100 feet each from dish to receiver. The HR21 only has two cable runs of 50 feet each.

I'm not sure which set of numbers to believe? Why would the HR21's numbers be so much lower on both tuners than the other two? If they are indeed in the 70's for 103c and 99c and not in the upper 80's like the H23 says, I am going to head out to do some tweaking. Any thoughts as to what is causing the disparity?

    Thanks for your time.

In my experience the readings can vary that much from receiver to receiver. The receivers are not calibrated to an exact standard.

If you are getting no 771s except when storms are in the area, you probably don't have a problem.

My HR21-100 also reads low compared to both my H21-100's, about 5-10pts across the satellites and transponders. I don't think it's anything to worry about, just the way it is with different receivers. I believe D* needs to issue a firmware update for the HR21-100's to inch up its meter readings to keep us from getting overly concerned.:D
