Those commercials are typically scams. They tell you to stop paying the bills and instead send the money to them. The hope is that after getting behind several months, the companies owed money would be so desperate to get something that they'd settle for up to 50%. But the "debt reducer" takes most of the money that was being sent to them in service fees so you're not really ahead at all.

For the OP, if you want any chance of DirecTV being willing to provide service to you in the future, you need to pay the bill, in full, ASAP. If you don't, they either will not be willing to provide service to you or will want a very large deposit to do so. If you settle for less, you can kiss future DirecTV service good bye.

Why are we even discussing this. The guy is a deadbeat, and according to HIS posts he's done this before with a previous bankruptcy. It's over. It's in collections. There's nothing any of us can do to help.

I suggest this thread be closed, if not deleted.

+1 I can't and won't support somebody who has a history like this. In the long run it's folks like this who cost us all money.

I don't believe we need to get personal on all this...but clearly....there are issues here that none of us can help with - a call to DirecTV to discuss the situation seems like the only cure.

Since it seems this thread is getting rude, and fast, I have no choice but to close it.
