    The...
Truer words were never spoken: "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws, killers, robbers, rapists, muggers, assaulters, burglars, car thieves, home invaders, crazed druggies and the government will have guns."

Is that what you really want? When you are left with no means with which to defend yourself, bad things can and will happen.

Yesterday CNN reported Americans are not interested in more gun control. President Obama and other political leaders acknowledged that with the statements they made. The NRA has 4.3 million members. That's a sizeable number of the population and voters. People like you fail to understand that the 2nd Amendment is a failsafe. Without it the rest of the words written on the Constitution and on the Bill of Rights wouldn't be worth the paper they're written on.

Also, not all gun control means eliminating the 2nd amendment - that's a huge fear of the NRA & pro gun people. The majority of control advocates simply want better restrictions on the big time weapons like AR-15s.

It's not an all or nothing deal.

The restrictions will only effect law abiding citizens. They will do nothing to prevent criminals and the mentally ill from acquiring and using them.

So, in your world - anyone can own any gun? No restrictions at all?

In the world we both live in the thousands of gun control laws that have been passed since JFK's assassination have had little effect in preventing crimes being commited with guns. But you and the anti gunners know that.

Please don't refer to me as anti gunner, especially since I've previously said I'm all for the right to carry.

I'm against the ease to obtain firearms that will outfit you better than many local police.

The local police do use them, it's called SWAT.

Not all police departments have a well equipped SWAT.

But they have access to one. SWAT teams are loaned out all the time.

Where did I say you are a anti gunner? Reread my post. It says you and the antigunners know that. As for being better armed than the police depts the only ones who have that capability are the U.S. armed forces and the drug cartels.

Sorry - it read as if I was included with the antigunners.
You guys should check out some small town police stations. There's a lot of law enforcement officials who worry about being underarmed with the type of law abiding citizen guns can be owned.

That's strange. You would think they would be worried about criminals instead of law abiding citizens.

I'm near no less than 6 "small town" police stations, and that's just to the south of me and doesn't include north, that have no such fears because they know they can use the county's resources at any time by requesting them. Helicopters, SWAT, Bomb Unit, CSI, even deputies.

If any "small town" police station feels they are "underarmed" they are free to increase their arsenal at any time. No one is stopping them.

Good point. Not sure why police would ever have to worry about a law abiding citizen. They are after all obeying the law.

So do you have any issue with people owning guns like the 2 pictures I posted earlier?

I'm talking about everyday people that make a small mistake. A cop doesn't know what they're in for on every call, so they must be careful. Now, with the ability to own a powerful gun arsenal, there's even more to worry about on a call.
