As everyone is aware, Direct TV is currently offer five months free of the Premeir package with five months of Sunday Ticket at $59/mo. can anyone tell me what the price goes to after the five months? I have searched high and low through their fine print and cannot seem to locate it.

    Thanks!

I got on that package a couple of weeks ago. When I ordered service the CSR on the phone said that I could just drop my package down a notch to the Choice Ultimate (she said that alot of folks did that), after the 5 months.

That's what I'm planning to do as I don't need all the premium movie channels like HBO, Showtime, etc....

Anyone run into any surprises when they signed up on a 'promo' deal then when it was over downgraded their package?

Premier 114.99 + tax. HD access 10.00 +tax DVR service 7.00 +tax. Then if you want extras like HD extra package add 5.00+tax. Protection plan 6.00+tax .......... it can add up. Bottom line price around $140 minus any credits they offer you.

yeah! TAX. You know the charge that is added to the purchase of an item that goes to the govt. I'm charged 4.00 tax on my 63.99 package

And remember tax isn't necessarily simple like sales tax. Some states have a satellite TV tax, tax on leased receivers etc.

But do keep in mind you can drop your package down. You have a two year commitment, but it's on service as a whole. You can drop down to Choice or Choice Xtra if you want, as long as it has the channels you want.

And some states simply have no tax on satellite service at all.:)

Yep, I got this call a few days ago and asked them to call me back next week. I wanted to check here to see if there were any gotchas.

The one that immediately comes to mind is the Sunday Ticket auto renewal. If they give you Sunday Ticket for "free" this year, you'll likely be set for auto-signup next year. If you don't want it you have to remember to cancel it (in June?) next year.

Also, with last year's promo to get people off the old packages, the Sunday Ticket "free" package was SD only, not HD. NFL games in SD - especially Directv's compressed SD - is a pretty painful experience.

Yep....only 6% sales tax in PA, none of this additional satellite fee tax garbage.

You have until the first Sunday of the NFL season to cancel the auto-renewal without owing anything, so it's actually at the beginning of September, not June. Also, if you have HD service on your account, the Sunday Ticket package comes with all games in HD this year. There is no additional fee in 2010 to watch the NFL games in HD.
