I am having trouble with channel 242 HD only. At least I can't find the issue on any other channels. On all of my receivers I am getting either searching for signal or pixlation issues like what occurs when I have rain fade issues but there is no rain in the area and it is only channel 242 having trouble.

    My signal strengths for 101

    1-8 95 97 96 97 95 98 96 99
    9-16 95 97 96 92 95 99 95 99
    17-24 95 57 96 96 95 100 96 100
    25-32 95 0 95 94 95 100 95 100

Anyone else ever have trouble on one channel only?

Do I need a Satellite Adjustment? Or is anyone else having trouble with this channel?

If it's USA HD, we need the readings for 103CA, 101 just has the SD channels.

Please post back with your signal readings for each satellite's transponders (and both tuners if applicable). You'll find these readings under "Menu" -> "Setup" -> "System Setup" -> Satellite -> "View Signal Strength". Note the "+" and "-" symbols next to the "Satellite" and "Tuner" entries where you can toggle the readings between the various satellites and both DVR tuners.

Fill in your readings for each satellite and tuner using these examples. A properly aligned dish will show 80-90s on most of the relevant transponders (although some will be low or zero):

Your signals from all the HD satellites (99c, 103ca and 103cb) are very poor and indicate your dish is out of alignment. If you call DirecTV, they will send a tech to realign the dish, free if you have the protection plan, $50 otherwise.

Thanks guys! I called them last night but they didn't want to roll a truck. I will insist this time and I do have the protection plan.

Remember, you're not talking to a D* CSR when you call the PP. I've about given up calling the PP because of the lack of knowledge they show. If you don't get what you want, which is clearly a dish alignment, ask to be transferred to Retention. They'll either help you or send you to a department that will.

Here's a rough (can't remember the exact words) example of what I've gone thru talking to the new PP CSRs:

Me---I'm problems with a 20-700 that keeps constantly rebooting. I've done everything I can think of and nothing helps. I've run the tests and it doesn't give me a bad HDD error. I get no errors on the diagnostic tests. I've put an external HDD on it and it does the same thing.

    CSR---What's a 20-700?

Me (trying desperately to be polite)---It's an HD DVR.

    CSR---Let's try rebooting it.

Me (slowly feeling lost and alone)---That's the problem, it keeps rebooting.

CSR---We'll still have to reboot it.

Me (I just gave up)---Could you transfer me to Retention?

    CSR---Umm.

Me (totally frustrated)---I'll hang up now and call them myself.

    Retention quickly solved my problem.
