don't recall if this has been discussed already...

are we going to have to put new SPs for the new HD channels?

for example: do I have to create an new SP for Stargate Atlantis once the new HD Sci-fi channel is up and running?

Do we have a clue yet if we're looking at the beginning, middle, or end of September for the initial round of new HD channels? I knew I read September 5th somewhere, but I can't find the article, and who knows how much truth there was to that?

When D*10 launched, I've been planning on Sept. 15th plus or minus 2 weeks. Keeps my anxiety level low because I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed. ;)

That seems like a really safe bet.

Folks, DirecTV explained to Swanni recently that 20-40 HD channels will be lit up by Sept. 15th (with the remaining 30 or so by the end of September, hopefully), and that they will be assigned the same channel # as their counterparts. When you tune to an SD/HD channel, it will default to the HD feed. To go to the SD one, you'll need to use the UP/DOWN arrow to advance. Also, any recordings that were previously set for one of these "dual" channels must be modified.

    WCBS 2 WNBC 4 WNYW 5 WABC 7 are they MEPG 4 and are CBS 80 E NBC 82 E WNYW 88 E & ABC 86 E MEPG 2 ??
The reason i ask is because the audio on 2,4,5,7,is lower & you seem to get more video brake up then on 80,82,86 & 88 ,

The East and West coast HD DNS feeds are all MPEG-2. I can view them on my HR10-250 HD TIVO, which lacks MPEG-4 reception capabilities. The problem you experience is most likely at the source. Remember, channels 80, 82, 86, and 88 are beamed from the NY locations while 81, 83, 87, and 89 are from the L.A. locations.

I know that the 80s are a DNS feed from NY but are the NYC local HD feeds Chs 2,4,5, & 7 in Mepg 4 , if they are then there not as good as the MEPG 2 feeds ,

It is my understanding that they are MPEG4. In my case, they are as good as, or better than the equivalent channels in the 80's

While I was at home for lunch today I noticed that CNBC's picture looked much crisper than it has in the past. Could it be they have the new camera's in place now, just waiting to launch HD?

It could be. It could also be your imagination, or any number of other things. Either way, CNBC HD isn't launching until next year.

I wonder how close the sat is to 102.775 since it got approval today. Is the Sept. 1 approval for the sat to be there or to begin moving it?
