Luck had little to do with it. I watched them measure the original mounting place and note it on paper. Pretty simple to do. They were extremely careful with the dish too. Our resident genius told me to let them do it.

My wife's Caddy was only 4 year 50,000 mile warranty.
    5 year 100,000 powertrain .
We never had a standard 10 year .
Kia and Hyundai did, and still do.

I bet that if the roof is stripped and replaced with material of the same thickness, the existing screw holes would provide a good chance of lining up just right.

But there is more to it than being in same place. Impossible to get the mast level (same) as it was before.

OK, but the salesman and my wife and I were talking about Buicks, too. And then we got around to talking about Cadillacs and other GM cars. All that link shows is GMC vehicles. I have to admit the salesman was kinda hyper and kept running around pointing out various models and makes and had me thoroughly confused by the time I left.

I was assured when I bought the 07 Caddie that it had the same 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty on the drivetrain as my 04 and 1995 Caddie had. Naturally, I couldn't find that in writing when the transmission went last month and I found out that the warranty had been reduced to 5 years and I don't remember what the mileage was. The transmission was only $4,400 installed and that's the first time I've had to spend any money on the car, so I didn't really mind. But the car only has 41,000 miles on it and you'd think a transmission would last longer than that. The new GM transmission is warrantied for 3 years or more miles than I'll ever put on it.

But, to get back to the Yukons, $65,000 at least? With a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty? After all the horror stories I've heard from friends and contractors who have owned them? I don't think I want one.

They had to replace most of the plywood, the holes disappeared with the old plywood. But the measurements were accurate and the dish works just as it did before the new roof was put on.
