My being an old retired "Tech Head" I am curious how the four networks are recorded using one tuner. Is something muxed together somwhere or is the tuner capable of decoding subchannels, or what ??

Only applies to big four HD satellite supplied locals with all being on the same transponder.

    Makes sense - Thanks
Not that I want to, but, I couldn't use it anyway. I am on the Eastern Arc.

It isn't something the user controls (other than "off" and "on"). DISH places the four HD locals feeds on the same transponder for each market and one tuner is aimed at that transponder during PTAT recording. The four feeds are recorded to hard drive where they are saved for a week for playback.

The system works on both EA and WA feeds ... but only the HD locals that it was designed to work with ... and only via the Hopper.
