No doubt it would be a cleaner look -- I was just responding to your initial posting stating:

I was also considering going this route, to save a few dollars, as money is a little tight.

O.k. so the current HR23 will be going into the bedroom, and replacing an old Hughes receiver, and the HR24 will be going in the living room, and that's it, so you agree that just swapping the LNB is my cleanest looking, and simplest method needed? I could even use the small, 2 port splitter too.

The second one looks ok. His feedback kinda sucks though. "cold, heartless seller" ouch.

If he will send you what is actually pictured and not try to slip a WNC in there on you, that is probably about right for the price just doing a quick scan of other listings.

If you bought everything separately from different people, looks like you could knock another $10 off if you aren't in a big hurry for another SWM LNB to pop up.

Yeah, I'm not in a big hurry, so I may do that. The HR24 is coming in a couple days, and I can slap a couple b band converters on for now, and watch for a good deal on the LNB. The inserter and splitter aren't too expensive, no matter what.

You can use it you only need to add a Band Stop filter to the multiswitch (connect it to the top input of the switch and attach the cable from the LNB).

There is always a deal out there if you look hard/long enough. :)

If you aren't using DECA adapters anywhere in the system, you don't need the BSF filter. Otherwise, a SWM LNB without a green label or green dot needs a bandstop filter.

    ???

If you use a legacy LNB with a SWM8/SWM16 you don't need a BSF.

I'm not sure what is so funny........I'm merely pointing out that there are indications that they are reputable. :)
I talked to them on the phone, and thay have been in business a long time, and are Directv and Dish installers, and everything is brand new.
It seems like a decent deal to me.....basically $30 shipped. I;ll still look on Ebay, but not real hard.

O.k. I'm new to this SWM setup, someone please explain what that means to me. Is there anything wrong with using the LNB I linked to in the previous post?

If you think the BBB is still relevant, that is your thing. Having a good rating from them is important, but not as big a some people think it is. There is a huge thread about it somewhere...

Anyway, if you are using DECA adapters for internet connectivity or whole home (multi-room) with a SWM LNB, you need a little red filter that stops the network traffic from reaching the LNB electronics if that LNB doesn't have a green label or a green sticker.

The one you linked doesn't have a green label or sticker. I think you indicated before that you have a simple setup of two IRDs, so you probably don't have whole home service, so it doesn't matter unless you plan on getting whole home service.

I would opt for one with a green label myself, or try to get a lower price on the white label since it is "old".

    WAIT

Sorry, it does have a green dot. I had to look closer. Go for it.

I know what you are saying, and you're right. I simply meant that the fact that the seller had a 98% on Amazon, and an A+ with the BBB, weren't "bad" signs. I agree with you, to a point, about the relavancy of it though.
The internet connectivity isn't an interest to me, at least right now, but the MRV might be handy, once in a while, so yeah, I guess I'd probably want to make sure I got the right stuff, in case that is something I want.[/QUOTE]

Yep, after tomorrow, HR24 in the living room, HR23 in the bedroom, and even that is mainly to control a little tv on the kitchen counter.....pretty basic. :)
Obviously, that would be the best way to make sure I'm "prepared" for more options. :)

No problem.......I just meant that seller's complete "kit" was cheaper than going the solid signal route. :)

So, now that I've looked into it a little more, I have no interest right now in DECA, or MRV, or any of that whatsoever. That being said, I will be running an HR24 in the living room, and an HR23 in the bedroom, and I don't want to use the BBC's on the HR24, SO, I simply need a SWM SL3 LNB, power inserter, and splitter, correct? And, with what I'm doing, it doesn't HAVE to be "green label" stuff, but it can be, just in case I change my mind down the road a little, correct?
