I am currently with Directv but am seriously considering switching to Dish. I am trying to figure out what my monthly cost will be when my new customer pricing ends in 2 years. I want receivers for 3 televisions. It appears that the new customer price for the Top 200 is $79.99 plus $10 for Hopper 3/DVR Service plus $5 x 2 for 2 Joeys less $5 for autopay = $94.99 total. Assuming no actual price increases for the next 2 years (which I realize will not be the case), my cost at that time will be $99.99 for Top 200 plus $15 for Hopper3/DVR Service plus $7 x 2 for 2 Joeys less $5 for autopay = $123.99. As I figuring this correctly or am I missing something?

Seems about right to me...although I wasn't aware that Dish offered an autopay discount. If that's the case I need to get on it!

Dish does have an autopay discount. I hooked up with it years ago.

Yeah, when you're a new customer. It's a $5/month credit which goes away after your 24 month commitment

If it's too much, then just cancel after 2 years and wait a few days. They started sending me "We want you back" invitations almost immediately and the offers were good plus there was a $300 Visa Card.

I have been with Dish for 11 years and have always had a 5.00 auto pay credit. Here is my latest bill. FireShot Capture 013 - My Account - Bill Details - MyDISH - my.dish.com.png

    Grandfathered discounts are nice.

I have been with Dish now for over 20 years and they have given me a lot of discounts through the years. Being a loyal customer and over 65 helps a lot too. Also for what I get AT250+superstations+movies, I cannot find that anywhere else at any price.

But your bill copy plainly says "Preferred Customer 2 Year Offer" -- That's not an 11-year-old original or grandfathered discount :p It sounds more like something I'd be able to negotiate in May after my 2-year commitment ends

I do that every two years. It keeps my bill lower, I still have my programming, and Dish likes keeping their customers happy.

Do you threaten to cancel at the end of your two year commitment or what are the magic words to keep getting discounts every 2 years? I just switched to Dish after 21 years with Directv. Directv's retention offers were getting to be pretty pathetic so I just dropped them after their last offer.

Exactly. Every two years when my contract is up I ask for the preferred customer discount . It is cheaper than the regular price plus it locks in that price for two years. Nothing grandfathered.

I have never threatened to cancel . When my two years is up I just ask for the preferred customer offer.

    Great...
What did you get for "over 65"? I tried that for my elderly mother and they said no discounts for seniors.

Don't know for sure, but maybe being with Dish for over 20 years makes a difference...

"Over 65" comes with a free PPV every month.
