I've found it helpful to take pics with a digital camera for *every step* in disassembly of electronics.............don't know if it's necessary here, but it has saved me considerable grief on other jobs.

PLEASE! Don't do this! It's no different than pulling the plug on your pc during a reboot. You never know what will be corrupted and no longer work. It's also not necessary with the HR20. Just plug the ESATA in and do a menu reboot. You're good to go.

I just replaced mine this weekend. Taking the fron cover off was a bit of a PITA, but once that was done the rest went pretty smooth. When I was done all I had to do was plug it back in and voila more than double my old space.

I guess I'll keep the old drive on a shelf, if I have to return the receiver i'll just put it back in.

What size did you put in? I assume it was a regular old SATA drive. Is that correct?

It was a Seagate 750gb. The 1TB drives are still too expensive for my taste. And this is 2.5 times the size of the stock drive. So, instead of 50 hours I should get around 120. That is plenty for me.
