My previous install was right after the HR20s came out. It eventually expanded to include 3 HR20-700s and 1 HR21-700. 3 coax drops to each (2 sat & 1 OTA) with ethernet whole home. The only time we had any signal issues were with torrential rains right onto the face of the dish or wet heavy snow sticking to the dish.

Our new install finally occurred over the long weekend and any level of rain has knocked us out of commission all weekend.

We upgraded one of the 20-700 to a 44-200 as part of the move. The other two 20-700s did not function to the installer's satisfaction so he upgraded them to 23-700s (no 24s on the truck unfortunately). So the only original receiver we have is the 21-700.

Our 11 tuner setup required a SWM16 and the resulting single line drop to each receiver.

Signal levels without rain are as good or better than I remember my ones to be.

Are SWM systems more sensitive to rain?

Are there things I should look for on my install that may be causing this?

We've had more outages this weekend than in 5 years at the previous house. Help me please!!!!!!

What exactly are your signal levels for 99c, 103ca and 103cb? You can just take pictures of the screen and post them. If they're all in the 90s, you shouldn't be seeing rain fade unless the rain is pretty heavy. If it is knocking you out "all weekend" either there's a hurricane where you live or there is something wrong somewhere.

Please post back with your signal readings for each satellite's transponders (and both tuners if applicable). You'll find these readings under "Menu" -> "Setup" -> "System Setup" -> Satellite -> "View Signal Strength". Note the "+" and "-" symbols next to the "Satellite" and "Tuner" entries where you can toggle the readings between the various satellites and both DVR tuners.

Fill in your readings for each satellite and tuner using these examples. A properly aligned dish will show 80-90s on most of the relevant transponders (although some will be low or zero):

Why ask for 101/110/119 and the 99s/103s spot beam readings, seems like extra work to mark them down when there's little point in doing so. If the conus HD satellite readings are good, the rest will be fine.

Why not ask? It helps to see the whole picture.

It can help isolate unique problems based on what channels show or don't show versus the stack plan being requested. Like litzdog911 said, it helps you see the whole picture.

The numbers may be better, but the numbers are arbitrary and may be indexed differently from one DVR model to another.

So, you can have higher numbers and lower signal and lower rain fade margin.

If you are in a spot beam, you should be able to get 96-100 on that transponder (it will likely be the highest one on that sat) assuming proper alignment.

There is an easy way to check alignment if you can reach the dish. It may take a partner on a cell phone to read the levels from the screen.

Stand where you are not shading the dish, and press against the edge of the dish forward (or backward) perpendicular to the plane of the dish edges. Deform it half an inch or so, maybe more. Do this at the 12 o"clock position, 3, 6, and 9. Hold for 15 seconds (takes a moment for digital readings to appear). What you are doing is slighly (temporarily) misaligning the dish from where you have it permanently aligned. If the signal quality numbers always go down, your alignment is perfect. If your numbers ever go up, the dish needs realignment in that direction.

Those appear to be excellent signal readings.
